Rod Conley Captures STARS Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week Championship!

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) "Hot Rod" Conley captured the 2016 STARS Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week Championship recently following a consistent final four races on the miniseries! From July 27-31, Rod racked up a trio of Top Five performances while adding one additional Top Ten effort.

The Wheelersburg, Ohio standout ran third on Wednesday at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio behind Jackie Boggs and Devin Moran, seventh on Thursday at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, Ohio, third again on Saturday at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio behind Jackie Boggs and brother R.J. Conley, and fifth in Sunday's finale at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio. In the seven STARS Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week events held over the past two weeks, Rod never finished out of the Top Ten and parlayed that consistency into winning the series Championship by fifteen markers!

R.J. Conley also posted a couple of strong showings on the miniseries tour, as he set Fast Time, won his heat race, and finished fifth on Wednesday at Atomic (OH) Speedway and led early in the $5,000 to win main event on Saturday at Atomic before claiming the impressive runner-up behind Boggs. Delmas Conley, the patriarch of the racing Conley clan, unfortunately got into an incident in Wednesday's Atomic program and was placed twentieth in the final finishing order. The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer was also in action on Saturday evening in a $2,000 to win weekly show at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio, but folded his nose under while battling for the lead in the feature and retired in the fifteenth position. The same three Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) drivers will strike out to a trio of different facilities this Saturday, August 6. Delmas Conley will tackle a $2,000 to win weekly program at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio, while Rod Conley will be back at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio for a $1,500 to win weekly Super Late Model show. R.J. Conley, on the other hand, will dip south to the Commonwealth of Kentucky on Saturday to 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky for the annual running of the ‘Hatfield/McCoy Feuding 50,’ which boasts a $5,000 top prize.
