More info needed I would think?
Do you have a direct drive QM bell-housing? Meaning there isn't a idler gear like the berts, brins, and ETC bell-housings
If you have one with a idler, you shim the flywheel back to get the proper clearance not the starter. No idea if you have the QM direct drive as I've never owned one but don't think you shim the starter anyways as it should be set by machining the bell-housing but depth could be set with shims just like the other bell housings so I'd guess you shim the flywheel also.

Lots of places sell them, not sure how many list the different thickness as there used to be different thickness's available not sure anymore.
