R.J. Conley Solid in Ralph Latham Memorial; CMI Prepares for Moler and Portsmouth

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) R.J. Conley and his #71c team traveled to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on August 11-13 for both the rain-postponed 'Ralph Latham Memorial' and the 34th Annual 'North/South 100.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the huge three-day weekend in the Cincinnati-area, as a whopping $80,000 in first place prize money was up for grabs. On Thursday night, R.J. timed in sixth quickest in Group B during qualifying for the 'Ralph Latham Memorial' prior to running second in his loaded heat race. After starting the $30,000 to win headliner from the outside of the sixth row, R.J. moved forward early in the 75-lapper before eventually winding up right where he started... in the twelfth position.

At Florence on Friday evening, a set of double heat races kicked off the 'North/South 100' portion of the weekend. R.J. placed eighth in his first heat race and second in his final prelim of the night. When Saturday rolled around at the undersized 1/2-mile speedplant, the Wheelersburg, Ohio ace finished fourth in his B-Main and twelfth in the $2,500 to win Non-Qualifiers Race. Unfortunately, R.J. was unable to transfer into the $50,000 to win 'North/South 100,' which was ultimately won by Bobby Pierce. Complete results from the long weekend at Florence can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams will be back out in full force over the August 19-20 weekend, as they have events circled on their calendar at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio and Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. Rod and R.J. Conley are both slated to be in action later tonight, August 19 at Moler in the $3,500 to win ‘Victor “Ike” Moler Memorial.’ Delmas and J.T. Conley will then join Rod and R.J. at Portsmouth on Saturday for the annual running of the ‘Fred Dillow Memorial,’ which once again pays $5,000 to the winner plus a plethora of contingency monies. Additional information concerning the races this weekend at Moler and PRP can be found by visiting www.molerracewaypark.com and www.portsraceway.com.
