Ray Cook Transfers into $50k North/South 100; Travels Back North to Richmond

(CLINTON, TENNESSEE) Ray Cook and Advanced Motorsports ventured to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on August 11-13 for both the rain-postponed 'Ralph Latham Memorial' and the 34th Annual 'North/South 100.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the huge three-day weekend in the Cincinnati-area, as a whopping $80,000 in first place prize money was up for grabs. On Thursday night, Ray clicked off the twenty-fourth fastest lap in Group A during qualifying for the 'Ralph Latham Memorial' and later ran fifth in his stacked heat race. After slipping back to seventh in his B-Main, Ray was unfortunately kept out of the $30,000 to win headliner, which was ultimately won by Scott Bloomquist.

At Florence on Friday evening, a double set of heat races were held to kick off the 'North/South 100' portion of the weekend. Ray finished fifth in his first heat race and third in his second and final prelim of the night. After grabbing the second transfer spot through his B-Main on Saturday, the Brasstown, North Carolina pilot rolled off from the outside of the tenth row in the 'North/South 100,' which once again boasted a $50,000 payday. Ray then climbed solidly inside of the top ten before being collected in a lap 83 tangle, which dropped the "Tarheel Tiger" to a nineteenth place showing. Complete results from the long weekend in the Commonwealth of Kentucky can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Next up for Ray and the Stacy Boles-owned team will be a trip back to Kentucky on Saturday, August 20. The Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky will play host to the annual running of the ‘Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial’ tomorrow evening. The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will sanction the single-day throwdown, which will pay $10,059 to the winner.
