Dennis Erb, Jr. Flexes Muscle at Florence; LOLMDS Doubleheader Ahead

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. and his #28 team invaded the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on August 11-13 for both the rain-postponed 'Ralph Latham Memorial' and the 34th Annual 'North/South 100.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the huge three-day weekend in the Cincinnati-area, as a whopping $80,000 in first place prize money was up for grabs. On Thursday night, Dennis posted the twenty-first quickest lap in Group A during qualifying for the 'Ralph Latham Memorial' prior to advancing up to third in his loaded heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the ninth row in the $30,000 to win headliner, Dennis blitzed past fourteen competitors during the 75-lapper en route to a sterling third place podium performance behind only victor Scott Bloomquist and runner-up Don O'Neal!

At Florence on Friday evening, a double set of heat races were held to kick off the 'North/South 100' portion of the weekend. Dennis placed fourth in his first heat race and third in his second and final prelim of the night. The Carpentersville, Illinois star accumulated the fifteenth most passing points, which locked him into the inside of the eighth row in Saturday's $50,000 to win crown jewel spectacular. During the course of the 100-lap extra-distance affair, Dennis climbed to as high as fifth in the running order before settling for a strong sixth place effort behind only winner Bobby Pierce, Scott Bloomquist, Dale McDowell, Devin Moran, and Don O'Neal. He still sits sixth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings exiting Florence Speedway. Full results from the long weekend can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

With this weekend’s ‘Topless 100’ at Batesville (AR) Motor Speedway already succumbing to Mother Nature, Dennis Erb Racing will enjoy a rare weekend off from competition and start gearing up for the August 26-27 weekend. A Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series double-dip is scheduled next weekend in the states of Kentucky and Indiana. On Friday night, Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky will play host to the $10,000 to win ‘John Bradshaw Memorial,’ while Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana will hold the $12,000 to win ‘Whiskey City 60’ program on Saturday evening.
