Jimmy Mars Captures $2,000 Triumph in Spring Lake Trip; Corn Belt Doubleheader Next!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars, aboard his father-in-law Paul Gilberts' MB Customs mount, captured his third feature win of the 2016 racing season on Sunday, August 14 in a rain-postponed Late Model special at Spring Lake Speedway in Unity, Wisconsin! Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action and later rolled off from the inside of the third row in the 30-lap feature event. The Menomonie, Wisconsin standout then grabbed the point around the halfway mark of the headliner and drove to the $2,000 triumph over Tim Isenberg, Chad Mahder, Dave Fieber, and Taylor Scheffler!

Earlier in the week, Jimmy piloted his own #28 machine on Wednesday evening, August 10 at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota. The Lucas Oil MLRA Series came to town to preside over a $5,000 to win, mid-week shootout. Jimmy ran second in his heat race prior to starting the 40-lapper from the pole position. After officially leading a single lap on the third circuit, the popular driver known as the "Iceman" wound up third in the final finishing order behind only victor Jesse Stovall and runner-up Ryan Gustin. Complete results from both shows can be viewed by clicking on www.mlraracing.com and www.springlakespeedway.com.

The Mars Racing team will return to competition over the August 26-27 weekend in their home state of Wisconsin in a pair of Corn Belt Clash Late Model Series battles. On Friday night, Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin will sanction the annual ‘George Scheffler Memorial,’ which boasts an $8,000 payday. The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin will then take center stage on Saturday evening by hosting a $5,000 to win throwdown.
