View Full Version : Driveshaft hitting trans

So knocked my trans seal out of my brinn two weeks in a row. The first time I just chalked it up to old seal, installed new seal and it did it again. So I am assuming the drive shaft yoke is hitting the seal.

How do you fix this?

Lengthen the 4 bars a .5 inch?

Shorter drive shaft?

More pinion angle?

Confused?

If everything is set where it should be, get a shorter driveshaft.

what have you changed suspension wise?
have you changed your left rear drop?
have you changed pinion angle?
have you changed lengths of 4 link rods?
have you changed position of 4 link rods?
have you changed pull bar settings? (could be spring or bushings giving up)

What confused said. Shorter driveshaft with a little bit longer slip yolk.

When we were running a Falcon transmission, what we discovered is that the output shaft isn't splined all the way. When the slip yolk got to the non splined section, chaos ensued.

I'm not sure what kind of transmission you are running, but Falcons are a fairly close copy of a Brinn.

Had same issue, shortened driveshaft 1" and never had a problem after that.

JC, which style falcon were you running? I have the original style and have changed output shafts a few years back, the current one I have in it is fully splined, I don't remember issue with the older. I run the long 8" yoke and go all the way in.

Zero-
It was from 2006, and we bought it used.. We ran it in a Pierce car for 6 seasons with no issues. When we switched cars, we threw driveshafts like nobody's business. After a few we realized it was the output shaft. Changed it for one fully splined and never had anymore issues. We run a ballspline now though.
