Billy Moyer Captures Checkers at Granite City; Eyes Pair of Holiday Weekend Events!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer's 2016 win total now stands at eight following a MARS DIRTcar Series triumph on Friday night, August 26 at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois! Billy, who has enjoyed a myriad of success at the St. Louis-area facility throughout his Hall of Fame career, won his heat race in preliminary action prior to starting the headliner from the outside of the front row. The Batesville, Arkansas superstar then dominated the A-Main to pocket the $5,000 top prize over Bobby Pierce, Jesse Stovall, Gordy Gundaker, and Will Vaught!

The #21 BMR team also competed in $5,000 to win MARS DIRTcar Series programs on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois and on Saturday evening at Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri. At Lincoln, Billy won his heat race and later claimed a strong third place podium performance in the 40-lapper behind only winner Bobby Pierce and runner-up Ryan Unzicker. In the weekend finale at Pevely, "Mr. Smooth" set Fast Time in qualifying, won his heat race, but later wound up eighteenth in the final finishing order of the 40-lap feature after experiencing a broken rear-end late in the distance. Complete results from the tripleheader weekend can be obtained online at www.marsracingseries.com.

With 813 career wins now on his illustrious resume, Billy will be gunning for a couple more victories over the Labor Day holiday weekend (September 2-4) in events in Illinois and Ohio. The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer plans to sling dirt in a pair of American Late Model Series (ALMS) showdowns starting later tonight at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois. Following the $5,000 to win show tonight in the Land of Lincoln, the Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team will trek east to the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Sunday for the annual running of the ‘Baltes Classic,’ which pays $3,000 to the winner.
