Jimmy Mars Earns $8,000 for Second Straight George Scheffler Memorial Title!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team captured their second straight 'George Scheffler Memorial' title on Friday night, August 26 at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin! Jimmy Mars posted the second quickest lap in his group during Corn Belt Clash Super Late Model Series qualifying and later ran second in his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the fourth row in the 40-lap 'George Scheffler Memorial,' Jimmy methodically worked his way to the front of the field and eventually wrestled the point away from Chris Simpson.

Jimmy, who hails from Menomonie, Wisconsin, then led the remainder of the caution-free affair to bag the $8,000 payday ahead of Simpson, Mitch McGrath, Chad Simpson, and Nick Anvelink! Saturday's Corn Belt Clash stop at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin was then washed-out by inclement weather. Full results from the popular 'George Scheffler Memorial' can be obtained by clicking on www.cornbeltclash.com.

“George (Scheffler) was a great guy and we had a lot of good times together, so it’s cool to be able to win this race again in his honor,” commented Mars following his victory last Friday. “The track got slick and had some different characteristics in it and I was happy with how our car performed. Hopefully we can build on this win and have a strong weekend at Lernerville and Eldora heading into the World 100.”

The #28 team will hit the road and head east over the Labor Day holiday weekend (September 2-4) with high-profile events scheduled in the states of Pennsylvania and Ohio. Things will kick off later tonight at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania with $2,500 to win qualifying features for the ‘Working Man Weekend.’ Saturday’s World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series finale at Lernerville boasts a whopping $20,000 top prize. The hectic three-day stretch for Mars Racing will then wrap up on Sunday evening at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio with the annual running of the ‘Baltes Classic,’ which will pay $3,000 to the winner of the American Late Model Series (ALMS) special.
