Cleveland, Tennessee (09/05/16) – On Saturday night Riley Hickman Racing finally got the monkey off his back at Rome Speedway as he piloted his Hickman Manufacturing #R1 CVR Late Model to the $5,000 win. (Kevin Prater photo)

“Rome Speedway is a place I’ve always liked, but it hasn’t always liked me,” laughed Hickman. “It feels great to win at this place. Maybe I’ll also finally have some luck next week at Eldora.”

Kicking off the Labor Day weekend, Riley Hickman headed to Thunderhill Raceway Park (Summertown, Tennessee) on Saturday night for the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series event. Competing in a field of 18 Super Late Models, Hickman timed in 3rd fastest in his group, which positioned him 5th on the starting grid for the feature. Running in the Top 5 throughout the 40-lap finale, Riley posted a 5th-place finish behind Josh Putnam, Brad Skinner, Eric Hickerson, and Ray McElhiney.

On Saturday night Riley hopped behind the wheel of his CT 525-powered Late Model for the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series sanctioned program at Rome Speedway. Drawing 30 cars for the Rome Boss, Hickman qualified 2nd fastest in his group behind Tyler Millwood. Earning the 4th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Hickman overtook the leader on the 33rd circuit. Holding off the field for the remaining 67 laps, Riley Hickman notched his 16th victory of the season. Jake Knowles, Tyler Millwood, William Thomas, and Michael Page followed him across the finish line.
