Rod Conley Claims Top Five in River Days Rumble; Delmas and R.J. Ready for Big E

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams were out in full force on Saturday evening, September 3 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio, as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series roared into the Buckeye State to preside over the annual running of the 'Pepsi 60 River Days Rumble.' Rod Conley had the best night of the Conley clan, as he wound up inside of the top five in the $12,000 to win program. Rod timed in tenth quickest in Group A prior to grabbing the third transfer spot through his stacked heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the sixth row in the 60-lap feature event, "Hot Rod" stormed past six competitors en route to a strong fifth place showing behind only race winner Jonathan Davenport, Dennis Erb, Jr., Tim McCreadie, and Earl Pearson, Jr.

R.J. Conley finished seventh in his heat race, but later earned the third and final transfer position through his consolation event. After starting the 'Pepsi 60 River Days Rumble' from the inside of the eleventh row, R.J. blitzed through the talented field to secure a steady ninth place effort. Delmas Conley ran fifth in his heat race before taking the victory in his B-Main. Following an early tangle in the headliner, Delmas wound up retiring with damage and placed twenty-first in the final finishing order. The biggest and most prestigious event in our industry will take center stage over the upcoming September 8-10 weekend, as Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio will play host to the 46th Annual ‘World 100.’ A full slate of time trials, heat races, last chance races, and $10,000 to win Twin 25s will be on tap on both Thursday and Friday at the “Big E” leading into Saturday’s ‘World 100.’ Six heat races, B-Features, and the 100-lap crown jewel extravaganza are all on the card for Saturday evening and a whopping $49,000 top prize will be up for grabs.

Delmas and R.J. are both scheduled to make their way to the 1/2-mile speedplant for this year’s edition of the ‘World 100.’ Delmas has made nine career starts in the “Biggest Dirt Race in the World,” while his son R.J. has qualified for seven ‘World 100s.’ Both of their best finishes in the historic race is seventh (Delmas in 1991 & 1994, R.J. in 2003).
