They may well wind up being major factors in the end but am surprised at what could be perceived as lack of preparation for both.

Sounds like a great race, love the format almost reminds you of the nationals.

There is a lot of talent there it will be tough for anybody to just show up and dominate no matter what your background is.

Some very fast cars DNF like Jason Krohn who can run with Rodney Sanders any time. He will have to race his way in on Friday. Several MB Customs in the lineups Including Sanders and Krohn.

Bloomquist spent most of last week taking apart his car and working on tires. One of the reasons he was late getting to Ohio last weekend.

A Mains Thursday and Friday will be 30 laps and the top 10 cars in Thursdays and Fridays feature will advance directly to Saturday nights Feature Event! Saturdays feature will start 30 cars 3 wide with Thursdays feature winner starting inside front row, Fridays feature winner middle front row, Thursday 2nd place outside front row and so on.

Saturdays qualifiers will be lined up by a drivers best finish in either Thursday or Fridays qualifying effort. In the event of a tie, order of events will be the tie breaker.
If a qualifying driver chooses to not accept his qualifying position after Thursday , he/she will forfeit the position and it will be offered to the next driver in line. He will not lose his finish for the night however, so he will likely retain a front row starting position in Saturdays qualifying B Main in the event he is unable to qualify Friday.

RC Whitwell and Aukland are no slouches to say the least. Agree but within the context of the touring USMTS not so much. After saying that I will say between Thunder and Deer Creek you have two of the best tracks with the best local weekly racers in the country if not the best. Its a very strong modified area. Extremely strong.

Maybe they changed the format due to the rain and are qualifying 15 from two sets of heats/B's/A's instead of 10 from three and adding an alphabet race or similar. Lot of racing yet to go in their original format.

Race monitor has him 3rd in heat 4. 5th to 3rd in a USRA/USMTS style passing points format puts him in a B usually 2nd thru 4th row depending on where everybody else is. 5th to 3rd is NOT a top 12 passing points performance.

Not to change the subject but it's cool to see Aukland running around around the area with is his familiar #12A. Simple white and blue car like old days too. There's so many details that I wouldn't even be using yet if I was guaranteed a spot in a show like that, if that's what's going on here with Jimmy and Scott. I can think of 2 things alone that will pick up at least .2 a lap and the guys wouldn't know what hit them because it would be to late to copy it. Those usmts guys are good and that's a grueling schedule but from what I've seen personally they tend to be a bit lazy on the details. Guys like Scott and Jimmy aren't lazy on anything.

If it's open tire those guys are in for a long night. Scott will outsmart them on an open tire. Probably go a little harder, cut em up and after 50 laps or so watch him come to the front!

Aukland ran against Schatz for a little bit in the 360 WISSOTA Sprints at Fargo, Grand Forks, Cedar Lake etc. (pretty limited basis for some guy). Anyway, Schatz was damm good even back then but Aukland beat him a time or 2. Everyone could see Schatz was gonna skyrocket though.

The top three on that list are on their games to the fullest and overlook nothing, but make no mistake everyone, that race was won on shocks and tires. All races are won on shocks and tires now and of course driver skill.

Great show and a late night, Bloomquist said after the race that it was the most fun he's had in a long time racing. It's time to take the aero and HP out, and put it back in the drivers hands.

Anybody know anything about the car bloomquist raced? I'd like to hear if he cut the chassis up and made changes or left it alone.

tb1545
09-12-2016, 08:45 PM
Heard it was a hughes chassis from tommy weder. Someone on 4m said it was pretty old, but in the racindirt.com interview he says it was raced a couple times before it was dropped off to bloomer. Interviewer asked how far he tore the car apart or changed, and bloomer kind of balked at answering before saying, well let's just say everything at least came off at some point. I can say the amount of camber in his right front that he had in the video of him practicing late Friday night was definitely a modification

Tommy Weder won the $10000 finale of the USMTS Fall Jamboree at Deer Creek Speedway tonight in the car that Bloomquist drove to 2nd at the $40000 to win race 2 weeks ago. You could tell Bloomquist had been in that car, as Weder ran where Bloomquist always runs, about a line up from the bottom the whole race. Ricky Thornton Jr maybe would have won if there was 1 more lap. He was absolutely flying balls out on the wall at the end of the race in the Gressel Racing car usually ran by Ryan Gustin.
