Dustin Strand Ties NLRA Record; Leads WISSOTA National Points

Grand Forks, North Dakota (09/13/16) – With a weekend victory Dustin Strand tied the single-season win record for the Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) in his RH Rebel Storage #71 Q&Z Plumbing & Heating Late Model. He now has 20 total triumphs this season.

The first night of the 10th annual John Seitz Memorial found Dustin Strand in action at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota) on Thursday in the Prelude to the Johnny. Drawing 37 Super Late Models for the Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) sanctioned event, Strand started the night by setting the track record in qualifying. Registering a runner-up finish in his heat behind Brad Seng, Dustin rolled off the grid in the 7th position for the opening night A-Main. Taking over the lead for the final 16 circuits of the feature, Strand tied the single-season record for most NLRA wins in a season after recording his seventh NLRA victory and 20th-win overall on the season. Capturing a $1,500 payday, Billy Mooney, David McDonald, Chad Mahder, and Don Shaw rounded out the Top 5 finishers. Dustin ended the season in a close 2nd in NLRA standings, coming up 8 points short behind Brad Seng.

On Friday night, starting in 8th in his heat race, Dustin was up to 3rd at one point but ultimately settled into a 5th-place finish. Starting on the pole for the B-Main, Strand landed a runner-up finish behind Scott Ward, earning him the 20th-starting position for the $10,092-to-win John Seitz Memorial on Saturday night. Working his way through the field eight positions, Dustin Strand posted a 12th-place finish in the 92-lap A-Main.

Dustin was crowned the track’s WISSOTA Late Model champion and is currently leading WISSOTA national point standings.

“We were just off a bit in the Seitz Memorial finale, but we still had a really good weekend,” said Strand. “Hopefully we can finish the season strong and claim the WISSOTA national title.”
