What will happen if u get a carb that is too big...and how big are most ppl running with open motors...usmts type...I had a carb guy recommend a certain size for my engine and it seemed really big but was just curious if it was close to what others were using

How much power can you put down. Your carb guy won't usually understand what you race on to be honest. You need a carb guy that can tune the motor to the track and car you have. The longer you can keep that pedal throw the better you'll be.

Too big can cause lazy throttle response.

I know it seems like almost everyone uses a 750 but there saying I need quite a bit bigger...I've had 2 different carb companies tell me the same thing...I have a 383 670 hp and turn it 8200 ....they say I need a 950

if you are a drag racer that will be fine.

for throttle response and drivability you probably need a 750-800CFM

for wide open power, you will probably get a few more ponies out of a 950, but you will sacrifice drivability, and throttle response for it.

I have a 15º 426c.ci with a smaller carb that they are recommending for you.
might talk to Braswell.

Call JDR, Braswell, or Stealth and talk to someone that does a lot of USMTS carbs. Advertised flow numbers aren't good for comparison and someone with a lot of experience building them will know what you need.
