I am in the market for a spring steel punch, the two types seem to be hammer and impact. Which one does everybody like better? I assume impact, but before I buy want to make sure.

The impact sucks. Had 2 break with less than 20 holes punched in each. Go with the hammer style.

I have the hammer style, can't complain, but the impact version looks like it'd be a bit more user friendly.

I think the press version though would likely be the best. Plus they make a die that'll punch a slot also...

Roper Whitney punch is the best. They have several different ones.

Impact, broke a few hammer style. I do a lot of bodies and impact saves the time and hassle

Thanks for the replys, I would look into a higher end punch but being a single car team with limited space I will end up with one of the smaller units.

This one works really well. American made dies that last a long time. Plus you can do aluminum and spring steel with the same tool. Changeable dies is another bonus, roind or slotted.
