Ponderosa Speedway Prepares for $3,000 Junebug Memorial and $10,000 Fall Classic November 4-5

BRASSTOWN, N.C. – October 30, 2016 – The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will be heading down the home stretch for the final three races on the tour starting with a big weekend at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. November 3-5th.

On Thursday Night, November 3rd, the track will hold an open practice session from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm. The gates open at 4:00 pm. Adult general admission will be free while pit passes will be $15.00.

On Friday Night, November 4th, the 16th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Memorial presented by Yeager Insulation will take place with the Super Late Models running for $3,000-to-win and $300-to-start and 30 laps in distance for the main event. Friday’s show will be unsanctioned, however officials of the Southern Nationals Bonus Series will officiate, race direct, and hold technical process according to the series rule book. Friday’s show will also feature the Crate Late Models racing for $1,000-to-win, the Open Wheel Modifieds racing for $800-to-win, the KDRA Super Stocks racing for $750-to-win, the Stock Four Cylinders competing for $400-to-win and the Mini Cup/Cyclones racing for the $100 top prize.

On Saturday Night, November 5th, the 26th Annual Fall Classic presented by Caton Industrial Painting will be contested featuring the Southern Nationals Bonus Series paying $10,000-to-win and $500-to-start for the 50-lap feature. Also in action, will be the track’s Crate Late Model division racing for $1,200-to-win, the Open Wheel Modifieds $1,200-to-win, the KDRA Super Stocks/American Dirt Allstars in the Bobby Carrier Sr. Memorial paying $1,200-to-win, the Stock Four Cylinders will race for $500-to-win and the Mini Cup/Cyclones will compete for $150-to-win.

Each night will feature a complete show for the Super Late Models including FK Rod Ends Qualifying, Heat Races, Last Chance Races and the main event. The tire rule for the weekend will be as follows: Hoosier 1300, 1350, 1600, LM40 and American Racer 44, 48, 56. These tires will be allowed on all four corners. Transponder rentals are available at the track for $10.00. Also, the Southern Nationals Bonus Series will pay a $200 bonus to the highest finishing driver using a CT525 series engine and a $200 bonus to the highest finishing driver using a Steel Head/Spec engine on Saturday Night.

Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. leads the series point standings by 60 markers over David Payne of Murphy, N.C. Third through fifth in the series point standings are Ryan King of Seymour, Tenn., Doug Smith of Harriman, Tenn. and Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn. The defending race winner is Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C.

Friday’s pit and grandstand gates will open at 4:00 pm. The drivers meeting will be at 7:00 pm and hot laps will roll out shortly after. Adult general admission is $20.00 while adult pit passes are $35.00. Two-day passes can be purchased on Friday for the grandstands ($40.00) and the pits ($70.00).

Saturday’s pit and grandstand gates open up at 1:00 pm. The drivers meeting will be at 4:30 pm and hot laps will roll out at 5:00 pm. Adult general admission is $30.00 while adult pit passes are $45.00. Two-day passes can be purchased on Friday for the grandstands ($40.00) and the pits ($70.00).
