And so the BWRC era (re-)begins...Davenport racing for $20,000 in a crate car at Swainsboro this weekend.

All he has to do is qualify on the front row. There won't be any passing. They'll go to the bottom and run single file the whole race, like always at Swainsboro. Worst track in the country.

Is that Barry's car?
Doesn't Kelly Guy or somebody have C&H paving on their car?
Just curious if it's Barry's car I don't see Baird on the car.
Is he going with JD to Barry?

zyoung25
11-24-2016, 02:29 PM
Overton had C&H on the car this year. I'm not so sure if this is Barrys car or not. I don't figure we will see it til PRI. I'm not real crazy about this design, I hope this ain't what they go with.

I was in a great mood after watching Kentucky beat Louisville, so we decided last minute to head over to Swainsboro last night. We usually leave there disappointed, but got to see a good one last night. JD had to work for this one. He started 6th -- which is equivalent to starting 20th at racier tracks -- but methodically moved to the front. Had to get a little physical at times, but that's necessary at Swainsboro. Superman earned this win, no doubt.

Kudos to Hudson O'Neal. That kid can wheel. Totally out of his element (and his first 100-lapper), but he started 12th and got up to 3rd before having to check up on a late restart and falling to 6th. Very impressive kid.

What car will JD be in at St. Louis, does anyone know?

squaredup12
11-28-2016, 01:23 PM
Originally when it was first released it was said that he would be there in Randy Weaver's 116...but now with that deal/partnership dissolved it'll be interesting to see what happens. If he goes, I'd look for him to be in the same BWRC he ran this weekend just with a SLM engine obviously. This also raises the question as to whether or not Overton will go in the 116 if it was the car that was registered rather than the driver.

Centeroff
11-28-2016, 10:59 PM
I watched the race at swainsboro and that Barryhorn was hooked up. Had so much bite through the center and off the corner the car was hopping a little. That's sidebite fellas. The hardest grip to find is the grip through the center and off the corner. That new icon might be a sleeper! I was really surprised the overall grip that ride made. He didn't beat beat the big dogs but anyone with common sense could tell that car was working and was very very fast. Look out

That $20k win means quite a bit I think, first and foremost it is great for team morale I'm sure. In addition it is probably the second biggest BWRC win of the season, and I think most importantly it proves that this team is picking up where it left off. Even the best drivers have trouble throwing together a crate ride and winning one of the biggest CLM shows in the country. I think it would have proven something (negative) had they gone out and struggled all weekend, and in my opinion it certainly proves something (positive) that they went out and won instead.

Thanks,
Jeff.

I get your point about seat time, but going to the race really wasn't a bad idea for the team to get used to each other again. The 20k was certainly a nice kicker.

squaredup12
11-29-2016, 02:26 PM
Even if it does "prove nothing" as some have said (and I would tend to disagree with), it would be impossible to say that anything negative came from JD, Barry and their crew making the trip in the new car...and pocketing $20k in the process. Maybe it was a test and tune that they should have won...they did that, and they've got more notes on the car then they did this time last week. Props to them.

Can someone tell us all how this track will be shaped. I read the dimensions of the floor in the arena in St. Louis but no way they can use all of it. I'd have to sharpen the old pencil but my math is smaller than a say FALS unless they can make long corners. To be a true 1/4 mile the track is gonna have to be darn near a perfect oval. I'm sure they are getting close to starting with bringing the dirt in. If I see pics posted I will post them here as soon as I get any updates. Gotta think a Pierce, Moyer, Babb or a JD will be up front. They drivers that run FALS or a Macon will have an advantage. We got our tickets so I'm gonna eat a little Missouri dirt. Can't wait!

You been to Oglethorpe? I didn't say it about Swainsboro. Oglethorpe rubbers in hotlaps. It is the worst racetrack in America.

Agree 110%.....been going there for 40 years and it locks down every time. Normally, you're on 3 55s and a 70! Worst racetrack ive ever been to!

Appreciate that nasty. That's gonna be a fast little track. Was worried the corners would be much tighter than that. Will it be a cross between Macon and FALS?

Got a feeling thats going to be the case at a lot of racetracks JD is at in 2017....
