So from different perspectives, of races I watched it'd have to be the Summer Nationals race at LaSalle. I still feel for Weaver, but what a job by Pierce (and his dad for the role he played in it).

Of those I took place in, there was one at Peoria this year. I couldn't tell you the date, but it was on a night when they placed two small hay bales inside of turns 3 & 4 to mark the "start box." It didn't take long before someone blasted them and they were spread out all over the track. A lot of passing in that one. I doubt I even finished in the top ten, but some of the most fun I've had in a racecar in a long time.

Lots of good races this year. Seen a couple, of these live and couldn't pick, myself. One thing for sure, the saying of the year, should be, "It's getting Fallzy here". You could feel that at the track. You couldn't ask for more drama than the last ten laps at the Show Me and a couple was just, root grapple and growl races hard nosed, side by side to the end.

Mother Nature put a wee bit too much water on one, but there was no dry dusty tracks in the top 5. I think there should be a award for track prep. At least a top five. those crews earned one. They was a big contributing factor in these top races.

A good dark horse nominee: Carolina Clash at Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster, SC from September this year. Can be seen on DoD. The local boys put on a hell of a show on the big half mile.

I was there, and while Macon is always good, it wasn't top 5 worthy IMO.

To me the N/S deserved #1 and I have no idea how it didn't make the top 5. I would have also put the LaSalle Summernats race in the top 5 over the races they have on their list.

You guys could be crucified for making such a irrational statement like that.:D

My opinion was the SNBC race at Richmond should have been #1. What hurt them being #1 was in wasn't Lucas or WoO. That race had action for 50 laps. Just like the other top 5 races, the track was good from top to bottom and stayed that way. I would say that Eldora was 2nd and the corn field race at Wheatland was a very very close 3rd. I will have to admit that all of them were deserving of being in the top 5, no matter their rank.

We're extremely fortunate to be fans of a sport where there can be a debate between dozens of races for race of the year and no matter which you chose, you are pretty much right.

I was disappointed Lucas at Macon didn't make the list. I thought it was better than the Show Me, but both were great.

I think there is a difference in "best actual race" and "best race to watch". Show-Me was a complete dumpster fire of hard-luck story lines but super intriguing to watch. As far as sheer racing goes, I agree with the original poster, those Eldora pre-lims were hard to beat.

Yeah. No question that DoD got it right on the Eldora races being #1.
