In another thread Krooser mentioned that his first race car was a '60 Ford Starliner. It bummed me out a little as this and the '61 Starliner were cars I always wanted but can't find today. Then I thought about the '39-'40 Fords, which were always my favorites, and how many of them I turned into dirt cars and cut up and/or destroyed on the tracks. Used to throw away grilles, fenders, interiors, etc. that, at today's values, would probably buy me a new Vette. Not to mention how many hot rod guys that would probably like to hang me. I imagine some day I'll probably feel the same way about the same dent I've put in the Camaro and Chevelle population over the last few decades. What car do you regret that met the same demise?

I had an 85' Cutlass Ciera wagon that I customized some. It was grey and had faux woodgrain down the sides and red interior. I lowered it and put some sweet rims and vouges on it. The headliner fell down, so I replaced it with shag carpeting. Then I ran red neon throughout the interior and put in a sweet Alpine/MTX stereo system in it. Finally, I put in one of those little chain steering wheels in it. Abouta year after I finally got it done, it ate both head gaskets. Instead of fixing it, I took all the stuff out of it that was worth anything and sold it and I scrapped the car.

It was cheesy as all h*ll and couldn't get out of it's own way, but I really loved that car and the way it kinda just floated the bumps. I'd love to get another one and build it out like crazy. I'm talking mostly a tube frame underneath, air ride, and the running gear out of a CTS-V.

1968 Dodge Coronet R/T, 375 HP, 480 ft. lbs. torque, 727 Torqueflight, 4.10 posi., heavy duty suspension and brakes (it needed the heavy duty brakes, and more!!) Cragar S/S all the way around. Maroon with white bumblebee stripes, matching maroon interior with the sport interior package included the tic-toc tach, etc.

After market additions-Crane hydraulic lifter cam kit included chrome push rods, roller rocker arms and tighter valve springs. Edelbrock Tarantula, Holley 750 double pumper, Mallory high output ignition. Doug Thorley headers with Purple Horny mufflers, B&M hydro shift kit for the 727 and a set of Mr. Gasket traction bars.

I still have dreams about this car. Had to sell it to go to school!! (sad eyes)!!

There are so many, I'd like to have back. First car, a 49 Ford Business coupe. A Merc crank, Offy heads Weber, aluminum flywheel, Isky 531 cam, two Stromburg carbs, dual coil ignition and tube headers with cut outs.

33 Plymouth 5 window coupe with a Olds OHV engine and rear end. Black spray can primer paint. This one tested the patients of my father. Taking up room in his garage and the smokey burn outs in the alley.

57 Chevy Belair. 283 with 3 speed on the column.

62 Pontiac Catalina 421 HO 4 speed on the floor. I worked for a Pontiac dealer then and after the 3rd set of bent push rods and valves, my boss suggested I sell it, as the warranty was pulled.

56 Chevy 2 door lightened to 2400 lbs, 513 Olds rear end, Borg Warmer T 10 3 speed, 301 inches with first set of really good FI heads, big block rockers and Duntov off road cam Hilborn Injection. Glass front end, doors and trunk. All floor and dash was aluminum and it would drive you nuts with rattles, butit was cool. Painted this one yellow and the guys at the drive in would kid me by calling out for a taxi. It was a honest 11 second car in the early 60s, good enough to whoop the average mussel car then.

67 Camero SS, Honduras Maroon with stripes. 350 295 hp, Munsey 4 speed, bucket seats and 4.11 rear. It was a dog compared to the 56, but the girls liked it. I paid $2800 off the show room floor. No I didn't forget a 0. Everyone and his brother ran into this car. I collected and repaired over $3,000 of damage and sold it to a drag racer in Iowa for $2500. It's bad luck continued, he totaled it at the strip and died.

Wish I still had my Jig-a-Low chassis with the '69 Mustang body on it. I bought a great car and was going to 'modernize' it. Installed a glass '83 T-bird body, switched it from a leaf/coil-over car to all coil overs then got into the race promoting biz and sold it. I heard the guy that bought it re-stubbed it with a Camaro stub 'cuz he didn't think that Ford front geometry would work.

I had a rough but fast '64 tri-power GTO and a '67 SS 396 that my Dad bought brand new... both long gone. Almost forgot about the '68 Charger R/T I bought new and also the '70 Cyclone GT I drove off the lot...

My 66 GTO was plain looking, pale yellow with steel wheels and full hubcaps. But it would run,I used to bruise the ring finger on my right hand on the lip on the dash when I slammed it into 3rd gear.

Do cars we cut up to make racecars out of count? If so then i would love to have any of the 9 or 10 1970-1972 challengers and barracudas i cut the skins off of to make late models out of in the 80s.

I had a 1980 Chevrolet Malibu M-80 Edition I drove in high school. The Chevelle SS was sort of it's predecessor it seems.

it was a real 396-375hp, 4 speed, 4.10 posi with the short spoiler and short bucket seats and I cut it up to make a drag race car! At least it ran 10.40s in the quarter!
