I have a 2010 Pierce clamp car and need to replace the steering box. What steering box do I need and what vehicle did it originally come out of? 80 something Monte Carlo or do I need something else? I don't have the funds for the sweet mfg quick steer box. Thanks for any input.

do you have a 1.5:1 or 2:1 steering quickner?
I would go with a z-28 Camaro box. they are a 12:1 ratio. probably get a rebuilt unit from local napa.

What year camaro? They have 2 options. A 3.5 turn lock to lock and a 2.5 turn lock to lock. Would the 21:1 ratio be the 2.5 turn box?

I think he is talking about the 605 box. It has a snap ring top instead of the 4 bolts. http://www.348-409.com/forum/threads/were-to-find-a-605-steering-box.5313/

The 605 steering boxes are $700 through autozone.

The lock to lock is a poor indicator of the steering ratio as the locks were put there to prevent the tires from rubbing.
