Brucebilt Iron-Man Modified Series Opens Ponderosa Speedway’s 45th Season on April 1st Paying $2,000 to win
SOMERSET, Ky. (March 25, 2017)—The second points event of the 2017 season will come up on Saturday April 1st at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. during the track’s 45th season opener.
The Brucebilt Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series will compete for a 30-lap $2,000-to-win event while the Crate Late Models ($1,000-to-win), the KDRA Super Stocks ($750-to-win), Four Cylinders ($600-to-win) and the Mini-Cup division ($100-to-win) will all be on the racing card for the evening’s activities.
There will be an open practice session on Friday Night March 31st from 7:00 until 10:00 pm. Grandstand admission is free while adult pit passes for the practice will be $20.00.
On Saturday April 1st the pit and grandstand gates will open at 3:00 pm followed by the drivers meeting at 6:30 pm and hot laps rolling out at around 6:50 pm. Adult general admission is $15.00 while adult pit passes are $35.00.
A full show of hot laps, qualifying, heat races, last chance races and the 30-lap main event paying $2,000-to-win and $150-to-start will be on tap. A $50.00 entry fee will be charged to the Modified drivers.
During the opening Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified event at Boyd’s Speedway back on January 28th, Brad Hall of Knoxville, Tenn. captured the $1,500 payday over Shon Flanary of Surgoinsville, Tenn., Ray Bollinger of Kewanee, Ill., Jimmy Dalton of Knoxville, Tenn. and Justin Cooper of Wheelersburg, Ohio.
The tire rule for both the Open Wheel Modified will be as follows: Tires: (some compounds are discontinued by the manufacturer, but are listed due to some still in use by drivers)
Front Tires (siping allowed on front due to carry-over from 2016 season)
Hoosier: Medium, A40S, M-30s, A40, Hard, H40, & M-60
American Racer: Medium, Hard, & Extra Hard
Rear Tires (all rear tires are allowed to be siped for this event) (no grooving allowed)
Hoosier: A40S, M-30S, A40, Hard, H40, & M-60
American Racer: Hard, & Extra Hard.
