I'm just back on the board so maybe this has already been discussed. How many of you fans are coming to Cedar Lake for the $50,000 to win mod show on June 15-17 ?
Also, how many mod drivers will come to Cedar Lake to compete for the $50,000 top prize ? names ?

I will be there. I was at Farly Speedway on May 13 and saw Kyle Strickler win 50 thou in a Longhorn Chassis. By the way , it was a modified special with IMCA rules enforced.

I only live 63 miles from Cedar Lake so I do not camp, but they have great camping. I probably will only be there Saturday evening. I sit just off turn #2 on the backstretch in a director's chair. The bleachers are hard on my legs.
I see that the Ogilvie, Minnesota speedway is having the USMTS mods on Wed. June 14 as a make-up for a big mod show they had washed out. Ogilvie, MN is around 80 miles from Cedar Lake Speedway, so putting the two sites together, you have racing 4 nights in a row. Pray for no rain.
Blessings,
Jim Hanson

Should be a ton of MB Customs Mods there since many of jimmys late model customers also own one of his Mods.

I agree, there will be a bunch of MB Customs . To be competitive in USMTS , it looks like you need an MB. I just wonder if any UMP racers dare to show up at Cedar Lake.

$400 entry fee if before March 31st, it's a $500 entry fee right now. That's crazy, $200 To non-qualifiers of the last chance qualifiers, $350 to C-Main non-qualifiers, $500 to B-main non-qualifiers. I'd race a home track for $700 to win also.

I see Jake Timm beat the USMTS pros on Wed. at Oglivie . We just may see a surprise winner take the 50000 dollars at CLS. There could be late entries from a bunch of racers who ran so well at Oglivie.

Jimmy Mars knocked out of race on thursday while leading by lap car, with 3 laps to go. Bad call by officals.

Actually, it appeared Jimmy flat out mis-judgeded the speed of the slower lapped car on the backstretch. At the last second he hit the brakes and basically squarely and fairly lightly hit the rear of of the lapped car and then spun around. Didn't appear to be any damage to either car. I don't think it was a bad call.

Jimmy is one my favorite drivers and I was watching him when this happened and they showed the replay numerous times on the track's big screen It sucked, but that is how I saw it.

Too bad the rain played havoc with the race. I felt sorry for Kyle Strickler getting into a wreck in the B. He sure was flying around the high side in the C. Ryan Gustin was leading the 70 lap feature before the rain shut down the race last night. I left the track at 10 PM..

Forward Bite
06-18-2017, 09:15 PM
Well, Ryan Gustin won the 50000 thousand. There were only a couple of Hughes chassis entered, but a Hughes chassis ended up in victory lane. Will be interesting to see who wins next year. I hope the weather is better.
