I've been looking for a good used modified car for a state of the art stock car project. Isee a lot of adds that say clamped or clamp car. I understand 4 bar , swing arm, z link, three link. Just not 100% what clamped up or clamp car means. Anybody want to help by explaining in layman's terms, what the differences are?

Thanks in advance.

clamp car has the LR spring in front of axle, attached to the axle tube in some manor. It uses axle rotation into the spring to help get car on bars, and plant LR tire.

this was popular in early 2000's on Bob Pierce cars, Lightning Chassis, and probably a lot more smaller chassis builders.

most 4 links now are spring behind, with spring attached to birdcage.

In my opinion the clamp setup is slightly easier to drive but there is more forward bite to be had in a spring behind car. I have a clamp car and a spring behind car right now, I definitely like my spring behind better.
The easier to drive is totally dependent on a lot of fine tuning details. Mods are not quite there yet for the most part.
