WOW!,I am glad I didn't go,only 16 late models for the Johnny Appleseed, this race used to draw 40-50 lates, again"what joke."Tony,if you want to protect your investment you need to consider new management.Eldora used to be considered the premier dirt track in the country, but in the last 3yrs.it's gone down hill.

And there you have it!Page two the rest of the story.

Crystal Motor Speedway in MI has more mini wedge cars tonight than Eldora has for LM lol

All the rule changes, safety and tire rules have all lead to the low car counts. If the tires rules aren't changed the the future of Late Model racing at Eldora will only be the Dream and World 100 with low car counts. Eldora is on an island with their tire rule not one other track in the country has the same tire rule. Area track where the largest number of cars come from for these smaller races don't have a no groove and sipe rule. The local weekly racer can't afford new tires to run at Eldora for 2,000 to win.

No need to use Appleseed for a tune up with dream being 3 full days of racing.

16 LM's, 25 Mods, 20 stocks. Can't keep using the excuse of weather for shi$$y car counts. Eldora is becoming the laughing stock of dirt racing. Rules and payouts are a joke. Actually would of only had 15 LM's if the WoO didn't rain out. (Tyler Erb)

Wonder what the count for Dream will be. Lack of local support is troubling.

Unfortunately nothing will change! They are completely oblivious to the whole situation. I honestly think they just don't care. All they refer to is the hallowed grounds of Eldora, time and time again. To them that's ok, they will say that's still a good show for the fans. Remember this is a track that headlines shows with modifieds. nothing against them but they have shows with less than 40 cars in the pits mods and bombers only. And a stupid fireworks show! There is no reason if your from the Eldora area to build a car, they don't race enough. They hope and pray the Oakshade and Florence cars can make up for the lack of interest from the locals to have a decent car count! ALMS is a joke in this region, you got the American Ethanol series paying 4000 to 10,000 to win. and Florence pays 2000 most of the time for supers. That being said, that sucks, I live close to Eldora and miss the old days. On a positive note, Waynesfield 25 minutes from Eldora last night had, 21 non wing sprints, 24 360 sprints, 20 Mini sprints and 39 Modifieds for the same 15 bucks.

It the same in the rest of the country and has been for yearsNot sure what you are referring to but there were quite a few races in the area on Saturday and they all had decent cars counts... Hilltop,Wayne County,Brownstown and Oakshade all had nice car counts on Saturday.. Eldora was the only track in the area running today and with the WOO race at Tyler canceled they should have had 30-40 cars. The problems are the door bar plate rule that was mandated this year and the 20-40 no groove or sipe tire rule. Hopefully Eldora wakes up.

latemodelman
05-28-2017, 09:36 PM
I heard a rumor that the door plate as well as the tire rule was Roger Slacks idea and Tony Stewart was also wanting it. Also I have heard that there will be around 50 to 60 cars for the Dream and the World 100 could be around 70. A lot of guys in the mods and stocks have said they are running elsewhere. I remember seeing 50 to 85 super lates at Eldora all the time for the local show and 50 mods and 50 stocks. I bet Earl is rolling over in his grave.

No doubt. Making rules just to make rules it seems like. Eldora has gotten a bit arrogant in my opinion. They have rules that no one in the country has. Amazing. The no groove and sipe rule makes no sense either. A majority of racers do not want that rule.

How do you know that Jeff Babc0cks car is owned by Best Performance? Because a lot of the sponsors on that car have been sponsors of Babc0ck for years.... For all you know that could be a Jeff Bab(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) entry instead of BPM. And if you think for a minute UMP is going to hand any sanctions down on the almighty Eldora speedway your nuts.

That's hauler was sold. The hauler he is using this year is the same one that Paul Stubber used last year when he was in from Australia, which is also a best car. That hauler is connected to the best team.

It will definitely be interesting to see if anything changes for Eldora next year. I mean low car counts and nobody in the stands has to be effecting the money coming in. Tony is a millionaire but at the same time he is a business man. And businesses have to make money.

I agree that the biggest problem is the doorplate rule , that coupled with having to have a full containment seat are what keeping the local teams away. I don't know that the tire rule is a killer because most of the area tracks the locals who used to come down are running under the UMP and using the LM tires already anyhow. At least up in the Oakshade an Attica area are. Combined with the format now where the locals know they have no chance in hell of making it in. I think this is going to be a very Low car count which maybe will make them rethink some of these rules changes. Or one can at least hope it will.

If the locals are mad cause they have to buy a full containment seat. Then they shouldn't be racing

Containment seats have been around a long time. Why are they so necessary now? What facts changed? I am not saying that they are definitely not a benefit, but there are no statistics or studies to prove how much safer you are in a DLM because you have one. There are no studies in the +/- likelihood of a concussion either. Fatalities have always been and continue to be very rare. You are at more risk on the interstate. Should we have containment seats and helmets there?

Most people forget that this race was originally in September the Sunday of Labor Day and it paid 2,000 to win. Also you would get 70 to 85 super lates come in just to tune up. You would get Birky and Moran as well as others as the Hillbilly was on Saturday or Monday. In may on Memorial Day you would get 55 to 75 super lates but you also had no one running on Sunday.

It was actually originally run at the end of Sept when it was moved to Eldora by Earl in 1988.
