I think it would be awesome for Eldora Speedway to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Dream next year by making it 1,000,000 to win.

Or at least do something special. Even 500,000 would make it a special race.

sounds like a reincarnation of the Eldora Million. I think $100,000 to win is special enough being its one of only 2 races that pay 6 figures in DLM racing. What I could do with $100,000.....oh to dream

I did not attend the Eldora Million but did attend the USAC Mopar Million in 2003. I really like what they did with that purse. It was $200k to win & I think even 3rd got $100k. It was like $10k to start the feature & the first car to miss the A got around $8k.

It had a mega purse on top but the rest of the "million" was spread thru the field to really put up some huge payouts for guys that had good weeks. Also, they used the alphabet format on Saturday night. All heats were on Friday & then Saturday started with an F main. It was an epic event.

I'd really like to see it happen again. The bad thing about the dream is timing. There's still a few guys that haven't hit the track yet this year, and there is so many other races in other parts of the county it's hard for some guys to want to pass up what they got in their back yard to chance it.

Seriously doubt it. That was a great race, and it was put on by one of the greatest race promotors of all time.

I agree...100,000 is pretty amazing, but being 25 years....I'd like to see something different as commemoration. Maybe not a Million. Maybe 250,000 for a 25 year special.

We attended both the dirt late model million and the wingless 410 Mopar Million and the Mopar Million was a much better show. Earl cut off the participation at 150 cars and $200,000.00 of the million was spread throughout various teams that didn't get in the A-main. Dean Jacobs started 4th and led the first 19 laps. Di ckie Gaines, who started 15th, led 9 or 10 laps and then Haud took over the lead the rest of the way. There was incredible racing all the way back through the field.

The late model Million A-main only had 2 leaders (Don O'Neil & winner Donnie Moran) with the winner leading the final 74 laps. O'Neil and Moran both started on the front row and Steve Smith started 3rd. Steve Smith was quickly catching Moran at the end but run out of laps.

If another Million is ever run, whether it be winged sprints, wingless sprints or late models, I really hope they use a similar payout as was used for the wingless sprint car Million. Seemed to make for a much better show.

Earl is dead. It's never going to happen again. That man alone, and his racetrack, brought drivers in from all parts of this globe. Sanctioning bodies waited for Earl's schedule before trying to go against him. But, he never took the credit for that, he gave it to the drivers and the racetrack. Promotors like earl baltes, Don martin, and a few more new if they promoted a certain race the drivers would come. These guys watched and made sure the drivers and the fans got there dollars worth. Crate racing is killing American grass roots racing in general.

CIRF is correct on one pass for the lead. However Bloomer started 19 and finished third and "The Juice" started 25th and finished 5th. That was the excitement imo.

BHF has a good idea with the $250,000 for the 25th anniversary, might make it attactive to teams especially if Tony spreads the wealth field wise. Same with the World 100 purse, if it is the pinnacle of the sport then pay the teams.

The million to win race costed $85 dollar admission and $2 more for the reserved.

I think it would be more likely for them to do something special for the 50th World 100 in 2020.

I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish with more $$$ thrown at purse. If it's to get more cars there then paying more to start the race would be where to go with it. If you started 30 cars and last place paid 10k I bet you would get over 200 cars entered.

That is exactly where i thought the $$ should go, back thru the field instead of so top heavy WWMF

I think the purse should start from the last place car, and then move forward from there.
I would like to see a Dirt Latemodel race pay $10,000 to start. I don't care what it pays to win, I would just make it to where all 24 cars in the race made at least $10,000. This should draw tons of cars in itself.

I don't see it happening. They can't even kick in to ALMS races. $2k to win lol

Agreed....... $2k to win an ALMS race. They are to tight to have a million dollar race. They will have an Xfinity race next year from what I've heard and then a cup race in 19'. Coming from a pretty reliable source.

Aren't the 2018 nascar schedules already out?

This might be a venue that the Cup Series can sell out..There are a lot of empty seats at Cup races these days.

A dirt track would work very well in the Stage Racing scheme of things. I can see maybe 3 stages of 75 laps. Tire change and fuel in between stages.
