Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals Bonus Series Kentucky Klassic $4,000 to win June 23 at Ponderosa Speedway
Junction City, KY- June 17, 2017- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jamie Stumph and co-owner Larry Redenius will return with racing action at the 3/8-mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” on Friday June 23 as the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV will sanction the 25th Annual Kentucky Klassic, paying $4,000 to win for Super Late Models, along with a full racing for all other divisions that compete at the track.
The 25th Annual Kentucky Klassic will take place at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday June 23 will see the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuel and Tennessee RV sanction the Super Late Model portion of the event, with the winner taking home $4,000 for their efforts in the 40-lap main event. Also in competition at Ponderosa Speedway on June 23 will be the track’s Pro (Crate) Late Models racing for $800 to win and Open Wheel Modifieds racing for $700 to win. Joining these three divisions on June 23 will be KDRA Super Stocks racing for $600 to win, Stock Four Cylinders racing for $300 to win, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones racing for $100 to win. All divisions, except Super Late Models, will utilize the practice/time trial combo format to determine heat race starting positions, with Super Late Models having a separate time trial session. Transponder timing/scoring is used at Ponderosa Speedway and the rental fee for a transponder is $10. RACEceivers are also mandatory and are required to be in use each a competitor is on the track. Super Late Model teams will pay their entry fee and secure their transponders from the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series race control trailer.
The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuel and Tennessee RV will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the program. The tire rule for the event is as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1600 and American Racer 48, 56. These are the only compounds that will be legal on both the front and rear tires of the Super Late Models. The series will also take random tire samples throughout the course of the evening as well. The entry fee for Super Late Models is $100.
Also, as part of the 25th Annual Kentucky Klassic, all Super Late Model drivers will receive a free meal from the Ponderosa Speedway concession area, consisting of a cheeseburger, fries, and drink. This is courtesy of series sponsors Friends of Monticello, KY and Rounders Racing of Stanford KY.
Activities for the Friday June 23 Kentucky Klassic racing program at Ponderosa Speedway will see the pit area and general admission area gates open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by practice and time trials, and green flag racing. Ticket prices for the 25th Annual Kentucky Klassic on Friday June 23 in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under free. A pit pass will be $35 for adults, while children ages 6 to 12 will be $15, with children ages 5 and under free.
