Dennis Erb, Jr. Ninth in Mountain Moonshine Classic; Heads West with Lucas Oil Series

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee from July 6-8 for a trio of pivotal point battles. Up first were two $10,000 to win programs at Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina. On Thursday night at Fayetteville, Dennis Erb, Jr. ran fifth in his loaded heat race, but motor woes during the 50-lap feature unfortunately dropped him to a nineteenth place effort. At Cherokee on Friday evening in the annual 'Grassy Smith Memorial,' Dennis placed fourth in heat race action and later climbed three spots during the 50-lapper on his way to a solid twelfth place showing.

In the weekend finale on Saturday at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee, a $12,000 winner's check was on the line in the annual running of the 'Mountain Moonshine Classic.' Dennis posted the fifth fastest time in Group A during the qualifying session prior to grabbing the fourth transfer spot through his stacked heat race. The Carpentersville, Illinois star then pointed his Black Diamond Chassis to the front in the 60-lap finale and was able to maneuver past four competitors en route to a ninth place performance. He still sits eighth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings exiting the Southeast. Full results from all three weekend races can be found online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Two more highly-anticipated Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series showdowns await the #28 team this upcoming weekend (July 14-15) in the states of Illinois and Missouri. On Friday night, the 13th edition of the ‘Battle at the Beach 50’ will be held at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and a $10,000 top prize will be up for grabs. The doubleheader will then wrap up on Saturday evening at the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri with the 11th Annual ‘CMH Diamond Nationals,’ which boasts a $12,000 payday.
