Shane Clanton Garners WoO Winner’s Check at River Cities

Zebulon, Georgia (07/17/17) – Shane Clanton outran Mother Nature and a hard-charging Tyler Erb to park his Weldbank Energy #25 Super K Express/ Capital Race Car/ Penske Shocks/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model in Victory Lane on Friday night with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series at River Cities Speedway.

“It was definitely a heck of a race, and I definitely didn’t want to see that late-race caution, but we were able to get the job done,” Clanton said. “This place [River Cities Speedway] is always racy, and this staff did a great job tonight getting the place ready for action after the rain.

“I’m just really proud of this team because we dug ourselves a bit of a hole to start the year, but we are really starting to hit our stride.”

Back in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Shane Clanton was one 27 Super Late Models signed in at Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) on Wednesday night to do battle for the $8,000 top prize. After starting his night by laying down the second-fastest time in qualifying behind Chris Madden, Clanton went on to place 2nd in his heat behind Chad Simpson, locking him into the 3rd-starting position for the feature. Hanging on to a Top-5 finish, Shane slipped two spots to finish 5th behind Chris Madden, Brandon Sheppard, Chad Simpson, and Rick Eckert.

The following night with 33 Super Late Models on hand at Hibbing Raceway (Hibbing, Minnesota), Shane edged his way into the $8,000-to-win A-Main with a 4th-place finish in his heat race. Rolling off 13th for the feature, Clanton charged through the field nine spots, reeling in a 4th-place finish behind Brandon Sheppard, Chub Frank, and Mike Marlar with Tyler Erb coming in 5th.

Friday night brought 33 cars to River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota) for the Acme Tools 50. After timing in third-fastest overall, Clanton cruised to a 10-lap heat race victory, positioning him on the pole for the feature. Surviving a late-race caution, Shane Clanton held off Tyler Erb to pick up his seventh win of the season and a $10,000 payday topping Erb, Brandon Sheppard, Mike Marlar, and Eric Wells at the finish line.

Shane has climbed to fourth in the latest World of Outlaws point standings. Full results from the weekend are available at www.WoOLMS.com .

Shane will return to action this Thursday, July 20 at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Georgia) in a $3,500-to-win event with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals event. For more information on the event, please visit www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com .
