Will we have a repeat winner at the Silver Dollar Nationals

The Silver Dollar Nationals starts on Thursday, July 20 and runs through July 22 when one Super Late Model driver will leave I-80 Speedway with more than $53,000. The question is, will it be a repeat winner, or somebody new?

Former winners of the Silver Dollar Nationals include; Don O'Neal in 2011, Brian Birkhofer in 2012, Jimmy Owens in 2013, Scott Bloomquist in 2014 & 2015 and Jonathan Davenport in 2016. But with $53,000 going to the winner, the competition should be at an all-time high. In any case, it should be one heck of a race.

Things kick off on Thursday with the $5300 to win Malvern Bank Super Late Models and the $2,000 to win Nebraska 360 Sprints plus $500 to win unsanctioned B Mods. Those classes will be joined by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and USMTS Modified drivers hotlapping off and on throughout the evening.

Then Friday its double qualifying heats for both the Lucas Oil Late Models and the USMTS Modifieds with the evening closing out with a $1,000 winner-take-all dash for the USMTS Modifieds. Then on Saturday night its B features for both classes, the $3,000 to win Belt Bash for Super Late Models and then the two big features paying $10,000 to win the USMTS Modifieds and $53,000 to win the Lucas Oil Late Models.
