Jimmy Mars Gears Up for Lucrative Silver Dollar Nationals Following Wild West Tour

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team will return to dirt-slinging competition this upcoming weekend (July 21-22) in the 7th edition of the ‘Silver Dollar Nationals’ at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series biggie will start on Friday with two sets of qualifying heat races, as passing points will determine the lineup for Saturday’s racing events.

B-Mains and the $3,000 to win ‘Belt Bash’ non-qualifiers race will proceed the 80-lap ‘Silver Dollar Nationals’ finale. A gigantic $53,000 top prize has been established in the mega-event, which also pays at least $1,700 to each of the thirty feature starters. Jimmy Mars has transferred into four previous ‘Silver Dollar Nationals’ headliners with his best finish of fifth coming back in the inaugural 2011 race. More information concerning the weekend in the Cornhusker State can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Jimmy and his #28 team are fresh off completing the annual Wild West Tour with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series. From July 8-14 in the states of Minnesota and North Dakota, Jimmy battled the national touring stars in four high-profile shootouts. His best effort of the busy week was in the Wild West Tour lid lifter on Saturday, July 8 at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota. Jimmy ran second in heat race action and later vaulted up to second in the $10,000 to win ‘Gopher 50’ to finish an impressive runner-up behind only victor Chris Madden!

The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace also netted a top ten performance in a stop to Hibbing Raceway in Hibbing, Minnesota on Thursday, July 13. After placing third in his loaded heat race, Jimmy moved past a couple of competitors during the $8,000 to win duel en route to a respectable tenth place showing.
