Freddie Carpenter and Devin Gilpin Share Butterball Victories at Richmond

Richmond, KY – July 22, 2017 – Richmond Raceway would present the 30th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial event on Saturday evening, sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series, and Freddie Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.V. would pick up his first win in the track’s marque event and score the $10,059 to win top prize. Devin Gilpin of Columbus, Ind. claimed the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series event.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series sanctioned “Butterball” Memorial event would see Freddie Carpenter outrun his son and defending race champion Tyler Carpenter on the opening lap of the event and would never be headed in scoring his first-ever win in the event and claim the $10,059 prize. Tyler Carpenter would finish in second, with Eddie Carrier, Jr. finishing in the third spot. Devin Gilpin and Jackie Boggs would complete the top five. Ninth place starting Jason Jameson would head up the second five at the finish, followed by Victor Lee, Skylar Marlar, Michael Chilton, and Connor Meade.

The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series main event would see Devin Gilpin claim the win and the $1,259 payday in his first-ever visit to the track. Jimmy Lennex, Jr. and Blake Brown would finish in the second and third positions respectively, while Dennis Roberson and Shon Flanary would round out the top five. Completing the top ten finishers would be Jeff Watson, Brent Estes, Zach Powers, John Jackson, and Tommy Carlton.

The next Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model event will be on Friday August 4 at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. during the 20th Annual Pete Abell Memorial paying $3,000-to-win plus the Brucebilt Iron-Man Modifieds racing for $1,000-to-win. The Late Model series will then head north to Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway on Saturday Night August 5th for a 40-lap $5,000-to-win event. This will mark the series’ first-ever visit to the famed Jackson County Fairgrounds quarter-mile oval.
