Ricky Weiss Keeps on Winning

Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (07/25/17) – Since Ricky Weiss returned home to Canada a month ago he has been a force at tracks not only in his home country but also throughout the upper Midwest. This past weekend was no different as he took his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7 A.I.E. Communications/ Bloomquist Chassis Late Model to Victory Lane on two separate occasions in two different countries to bring his 2017-win tally to six.

“We’ve got this hot rod running really good right now,” Weiss commented. “[Dustin] Strand is really tough in this area so to beat him really shows how strong we are performing right now. There’s some big money shows coming up in the next few weeks, so hopefully we can keep this momentum rolling.”

On Thursday night Ricky Weiss returned to Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba), competing in a field of 15 Super Late Models. Improving two positions in his heat race, Ricky notched a runner-up finish behind Mike Balcaen, positioning him 8th on the starting grid for the feature. Wheeling his way to his fifth win of the season, Weiss topped Mike Balcaen, Dustin Strand, Kevin Sexton, and Bill Mooney at the finish line in the 20-lap affair to pick up his second straight victory at the speedway.

After taking Friday night off, Weiss headed to Devil’s Lake Speedway (Crary, North Dakota) on Saturday night for the Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) sanctioned contest. Moving up one spot in his heat race, Ricky charged to a 10-lap heat race win, locking him into the 4th-starting position for the feature. Holding off Dustin Strand late in the 25-lapper, Ricky Weiss streaked to his second-straight win and sixth on the season over Strand, Cole Schill, Bill Mooney, and Robert Hellebust. Weiss pocketed a $1,100 payday for his efforts.

This week Ricky will likely only enter a single event as he prepares for next week’s USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway. His plan for this week is to enter the Weekly Racing Series Event at Red River Co-op Speedway on Thursday night. For more information on the event, please visit www.RedRiverCoopSpeedway.ca .
