Jake Knowles Builds Mid-Season Momentum

Rome, Georgia (07/25/17) – Jake Knowles continues to gain mid-season momentum behind the wheel of his Knowles Race Parts & Bodies #66 Brucebilt Performance Rocket Chassis Super Late Model.

Over the course of the past week he has entered five events and earned three Top-5 finishes and five Top-10 finishes to show for his efforts.

“We may not have all of the wins that we would like, but I now feel like every time we unload we are a contender,” Knowles said. “This definitely wasn’t the case earlier this year. We’ve made some changes within our program and have just really been doing our homework. All of this hard work is showing with our on-track performances, and if we can just improve our qualifying efforts I think the wins will start coming.”

Last Monday night Jakes Knowles kicked off an ultra-busy week of competition by making the trip to Tri-County Race Track (Brasstown, North Carolina) for the second round of the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series. Timing in 8th-fastest overall in a field of 23 Super Late Models, Knowles earned the 8th-starting position for the $3,500-to-win A-Main. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Jakes gained two positions in the 35-lapper, posting a 6th-place outing.

Returning to action with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series, Jake Knowles was one of 29 Super Late Models signed in at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) on Tuesday night to do battle for the $3,500 top prize. Holding his spot in his 8-lap heat race, Knowles recorded a runner-up finish behind Chicky Barton, positioning him 12th on the starting grid for the feature. Breaking into a podium spot, Jake Knowles charged through the field nine positions, notching a 3rd-place finish behind Donald McIntosh and Vic Hill with David Doherty and Jason Cardwell completing the Top-5 finishers.

Following an off day on Wednesday, Jake Knowles was back with the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series on Thursday night for the fourth stop of the tour at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Georgia). After laying down the 5th-fastest time in his group, Knowles secured his spot into the $3,500-to-win A-Main with a 3rd-place finish in his heat race. Wheeling his way into the Top 10, Jake passed seven cars in the 35-lap affair to place 8th.

Saturday night brought Knowles to Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) for the regular night of racing. Timing in 9th fastest in qualifying, Jake earned the 9th-starting position for the $2,000-to-win A-Main. Advancing through the field six positions, Jake Knowles reeled in a 3rd-place finish behind Michael Page and Jason Croft with Shawn Chastain and Will Roland completing the Top-5 finishers.

Sunday night’s Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series sanctioned program at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia) was postponed to August 20th by Mother Nature, so Jake kicked off this week’s action on Monday night at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia).

Via preliminary action Jake earned the 9th-starting spot for the feature. He would go on to advance to a 5th-place finish behind race winner, Brandon Overton, Craig Vosbergen, Casey Roberts, and Ronnie Johnson.
