Garrett Alberson Claims First-Career MSCCS Victory

Shreveport, Louisiana (07/31/17) – Garrett Alberson notched another career first on Saturday night by claiming the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) victory in his Childress Racing #F5 Black Diamond Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.

“We’ve been painfully close to getting one of these State Series wins, so it feels so fulfilling to finally get one,” Alberson said. “Mr. [Raymond] Childress gives me everything that I need with this team to get the job done. We’ve had a lot of speed here lately but just have fallen a little short of the win. Saturday night we are able to put it altogether to get the win. Hopefully this momentum will build for the rest of the season.”

Friday night brought 24 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) entries to Batesville Motor speedway (Batesville, Arkansas) to do battle for the $2,000 top prize. After timing in second fastest behind Billy Moyer Jr. in qualifying, Mother Nature postponed the event to a later date after rain began to drench the oval just after time trials.

The following night Alberson made the trip to Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSSCS) sanctioned program. Laying down the fastest time overall in his qualifying group, Garrett went on to capture a Dash victory, earning him the pole position for the feature. After losing the lead early, Garrett Alberson regained the top spot on the ninth circuit and held off the field in the remaining distance to pick up his first win of the season and a $2,500 payday. Brian Rickman, Michael Arnold, Chad Thrash, and Chandler Petty completed the Top-5 finishers.

Alberson and Childress Racing will be burning up the highway again this weekend. On Friday night they’ll return to Mooney Starr’s Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) for the rescheduled COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) event. Following the $2,000-to-win affair they’ll make the long overnight trek to Rodney Wing’s Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi). On Saturday evening they’ll compete in a $2,500-to-win, Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) event at the 3/8-mile oval.
