The difference between 11th position and last position in the 100 lap feature event is only $250 dollars. So if you are not chasing Lucas Oil Points and are not running in the top ten, you might as well park it.

So if you are not chasing Lucas Oil Points and are not running in the top ten, you might as well park it.This is something that plagues many of the finest crown jewel races. Many do,indeed pull off as there isn't any point in tearing more equipment up finishing 11th as opposed to 25th. Halfway through a race, you usually know whether or not you have a car that can compete for a top 10.

If it is a televised race you should probably keep racing and hope for the best. I never understood the logic for not finishing when your in a big show. You got the car, the hauler, the pit crew, the hotels, the tires, the tools, the race gas, the two days of travel, etc. etc. and you made the show, and now your going to worry about wearing out the car. If you have 7,000 + spectators watching the race you got to stay in it to win it!

I do agree with you...we've all seen cars pull off that could've kept racing. It's a taped event by Lucas

If you race for a living, throwing bad money after good isn't going to keep the lights on very long. If you're interested in getting your sponsors some exposure on TV, pulling off the track might be the only way you end up on camera if you're running that far back. Heck, maybe someone with a camera will come over and ask you some stupid questions and then go to the cut-away car and explain something wrong.

The TV isn't going to show you toiling for 14th place. When it costs $20/lap to keep rolling on, why not just pull it in?

Why would you need a hotel if you have the hauler? Which I'm assuming is a toter.

Make way. Morgan Sheppard is coming to the n/s. That's his kind of racing. I really hope the guy is never in a hard accident but that's what it reminds me of.

Only way to stop drivers from pulling off is to pay each position more than the spot behind it.

If 14th pays the same as 28th, why would you spend the $$ over the last 50 laps to move up from the tail to 15th??

Yeah, I finished 10 spots ahead of you, but we got paid the same. I beat you on the track, but you pulled out the gate with an extra grand in your pocket b/c you parked it 50 laps early.
It's a flawed system, but there's only so much prize $ available. Can't pay the last guy $800 to start.

what is bad is up till a couple of years ago it payed 50000 to win, 10000 for second and 6000 for third. It's almost like the show me, for a race the is at the "diamond of dirt tracks", it has still yet to pay anything close to what it did when it was at west plains, if I remember correctly the last race played 45000 to win and 4500 for 24th, if continued this year it would have been 53000 to win and 5300 to start which is more that what i think the 6th place finisher got this year.

$25,000,20,000,15,000,12,500,10,000,9000,8000,7500 ,7000,6500,6000,5000,4500,4000,3500,3000,
2750,2500,2400,2300,2200,2100, $2000 To Start $165,600 For 26 Cars.
My opinion is only 1 driver gets $50,000, so spread it out and Finishing 12th pays a lot more than 26th.

Why the heck would you cut start pay to $2,000. Still too top heavy; just more top covered. Cutting start pay will not bring more cars. Will guys run longer in the 100 lapper itself... I still say only maybe.
I just think there would be a better way to spread it out.

If only going make $250 different. Why put more wear on your car. Trying go from 15th to 11th with 6 to go then blow a motor or just damage it might cost all your money.

Be like owning an excavating company and using a large trackhoe that costs more to maintain than a little one to dig 5-10' deep. You're just pi$$ing money away to say you did it. Conserve it for another day and be smart.

If I was racing and in this position, unless I felt like I could really gain some ground, I'd pull off too.

Bloomer didn't throw it out the window.... he watched it pass him on the top side.

But it wasn't his fault, his crew guy didn't signal they were coming on the top. SMH, just admit you got beat

True skinny, The cameras don't even show the guys that are passing cars like mad, if they ar 10th or more. Look at the high lights or even PPV. I might add, it's some of the best racing of the night at times.comes from nowhere to bid for the lead. They didn't come from nowhere, they where passing cars left and right only too far behind the camera.
