Dennis Erb, Jr. Advances to Sixth in USA Nationals; Back on Lucas Oil Trail at Florence

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing will invade the Commonwealth of Kentucky on August 10-12 for their next two events of the 2017 campaign at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The 34th edition of the ‘North/South 100’ will take place at the undersized 1/2-mile clay oval this weekend and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again preside over all of the racing action. Things kick off at the Cincinnati-area speedplant later tonight with the ‘North/South Shootout’ – a complete program paying $10,000 to the winner.

A double set of preliminary heat races will then take center stage on Friday night with passing points determining the lineups for Saturday’s dashes and consolation events. After all preliminary races are held, the crown jewel extravaganza will culminate with the ‘North/South 100,’ which will once again boast an enormous $50,000 paycheck for the victor of the 100-lap contest. Dennis Erb, Jr. ran sixth in last year’s version of the storied race and currently sits eighth in the latest LOLMDS point standings. Additional information on the lucrative ‘North/South 100’ weekend can be viewed by pointing your Internet browser to www.lucasdirt.com.

The #28 team recently wrapped up a hectic five-day stretch with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series in the Badger State, as they entered shows at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Shawano Speedway in Shawano, Wisconsin, and Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin from August 1-5. While Dennis had mixed results early in the week, he saved his best performance for last in the 30th Annual ‘USA Nationals’ at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Dennis knocked down the eleventh fastest lap in Group B during the WOOLMS qualifying session on Friday night and later earned the third transfer spot through his stacked heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the sixth row in Saturday’s 100-lap 'USA Nationals,' Dennis was able to drive past a handful of competitors during the $50,000 to win headliner. At the completion of the extra-distance affair, the Carpentersville, Illinois standout was in the sixth position behind only winner Don O'Neal, Mike Marlar, Bobby Pierce, Brandon Sheppard, and Jimmy Owens!
