Jimmy Mars Picks Up Plymouth Win in Hectic Stretch; Red Cedar Doubleheader Ahead!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his Mars Racing team will make the short trek to Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin on August 10-11 for a pair of special events at their hometown facility. Jimmy will jump behind the wheel of an Open Wheel Modified for a $3,000 to win USMTS showdown later tonight at the 3/8-mile, semi-banked oval. On Friday night, the WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series will roar into town to preside over the ‘Duane Mahder 55 Memorial,’ which boasts a $5,555 top prize and a lucrative payoff throughout the field. More information on the doubleheader can be located by clicking on www.redcedarspeedway.com.

The #28 team is fresh off a hectic stretch of racing action in their home state, as they entered ten races at six different Wisconsin tracks from July 28-August 5. In those ten shows, Jimmy netted one victory, four Top Five efforts, and a handful of Top Ten performances. Jimmy racked up his third feature win of the 2017 campaign back on July 31 at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wisconsin!

The Dirt Kings Tour rolled into Plymouth and a strong 34 car field assembled in the pit area. Jimmy laid down the quickest time in his group during qualifying prior to claiming a heat race triumph. After starting from the outside of the second row in the 50-lap feature, Jimmy swapped the top spot with Jason Feger on several different occasions early in the distance before eventually leading the final sixteen circuits. The "Iceman" went on to bag the $4,000 payday in the caution-free affair over Brian Shirley, Jason Feger, Nick Anvelink, and Tyler Erb!

The Mars Racing team also flexed their muscle with top five showings in WISSOTA Challenge Series showdowns at AMSOIL Speedway in Superior, Wisconsin and Rice Lake Speedway in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Jimmy’s best outing with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series during the hectic stretch came on August 1 at Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where he ultimately placed tenth in the final rundown of the $10,000 to win special.
