Ray Cook Cashes $2,500 Crate Win at Boyd’s; Wynn Motorsports Heads to Florence!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook took advantage of a last minute decision to pilot Jason Deal's #7 Crate Late Model on Saturday evening, August 5 by putting his Capital ride in victory lane at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia! Ray stopped the clock fourth fastest overall during qualifying before scoring a victory in heat race action. After starting the 40-lap Crate Late Model special from the outside of the front row, Ray led each and every circuit in the headliner to bag the $2,500 payday ahead of Shane Tankersley, Matt Steward, Ahnna Parkhurst, and Will Roland! Full results from the Chattanooga-area facility can be accessed by visiting www.boydsspeedway.net.

“It was a last minute deal to drive Jason’s car at Boyd’s but it paid off nicely,” quoted Cook earlier this week via telephone. “I can’t thank him enough for letting me wheel his Capital car and trying a few things throughout the night. It all went well and now we’ll turn our focus to the North/South 100 this weekend. It’s a big weekend in our sport and it’s usually a really good race; hopefully we are on top of our game and can run up front!”

The popular driver known as the “Tarheel Tiger” will be back behind the wheel of a Wynn Motorsports mount on August 10-12 at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The 34th edition of the ‘North/South 100’ will take place at the undersized 1/2-mile clay oval this weekend and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will once again preside over all of the racing action. Things kick off at the Cincinnati-area speedplant later tonight with the ‘North/South Shootout’ – a complete program paying $10,000 to the winner.

A double set of preliminary heat races will then take center stage on Friday night with passing points determining the lineups for Saturday’s dashes and consolation events. After all preliminary races are held, the crown jewel extravaganza will culminate with the ‘North/South 100,’ which will once again boast an enormous $50,000 paycheck for the victor of the 100-lap contest. Ray has enjoyed several strong runs in the past in the Florence biggie including posting a top five performance in both 2010 and 2011.
