Chris Brown Bags Southern Oklahoma TOMS Cash

Spring, Texas (08/10/17) – It didn’t take Chris Brown long to knock the rust off his driving skills. Despite being two months removed from his last event, the Texas racer visited Victory Lane in his third race back in the driver’s seat.

Brown piloted his Lone Star Hydro & Maintenance #21 MB Customs/ Knowles Performance Engine Modified the $1,500 win with the Touring Outlaws Modified Series (TOMS) on Saturday night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway.

Kicking off the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Hunt for the Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental, Chris Brown was one of 45 entries signed in at Springfield Raceway (Springfield, Missouri) on Thursday evening. After moving up one spot in his heat race to place third, Brown secured his spot into the $4,500-to-win opening night feature with a 15-lap Real Racing Wheels B-Main victory. Rolling off 14th for the A-Main, Chris jumped up six positions, reeling in an 8th-place finish.

Friday night brought 39 USMTS entries to Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) for the $5,000 top prize. Starting on the pole of his heat race, Brown cruised to an 8-lap heat win, which locked him into the 8th-starting position for the feature. Breaking into a podium spot, Chris advanced six positions in the 40-lapper to finish second behind Stormy Scott with Jason Hughes, Rodney Sanders, and Ryan Gustin completing the Top-5 finishers.

After Mother Nature wiped out Saturday’s USMTS event at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri), Brown headed to Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) for the Touring Outlaw Modified Series (TOMS) sanctioned program. Leading the night off with a heat race win, Chris earned the 5th-starting position for feature. Wheeling his way into the lead by lap 11, Brown held off the field in the remaining 14 circuits to capture his second win of the season over Austin Bonner, Kale Westover, Colby Smith, and Wesley Veal. Chris was awarded a $1,500 payday for his efforts.
