View Full Version : Southern All Star Sanction At East Alabama State Race?

Apparently the folks at East Alabama have not informed the Southern All Stars that they were not going to sanction this years super late model events at the Alabama State championships. There is an entry form for super races on Friday/Saturday & Sunday but as in past races it said to pay enrty fee at the Southern All Star trailer. If you look on the Southern All Star website they still have the races posted as $4,000 to win on Saturday & Sunday. It will be shame if they do not sanction these races as over the past three year they have sanctioned them the cars counts have been averaging around 40 per race, but I doubt it will be that this time. Has anybody else heard what is going on!

Not sure what's going on. We thought it was 2 separate, complete SAS shows on Saturday night and Sunday. Willy and his Dad might have decided to lower the purse. It has been a good weekend the past few years. Sept. is a busy month for us. If they screw this weekend up, we may take it off. Or just go down on Sunday.

Over the weekend heard more talk about it not being sanctioned by SAS. Some of the drivers I seen said no way they would go as the sanctioned race has a set purse and this race nobody knows what the purse will be. So looks like this is a real deal, I am going to send the guys at SAS an email later and see what they know. Leave it to East Alabama to mess up a good deal for the regional drivers, but like I said before nothing surprises me anymore in racing.

I emailed the Southern All Stars today and this is what I received back: As for the past three years we have sanctioned the Alabama State Championships and was under the assumption after a meeting In Daytona at the promoters workshop everything was a done deal as years past and the Southern All Stars would sanction the two $4,000 to win events on Saturday & Sunday. I began getting phone calls last week concerning the races as entry fee sheets were on the EAMS website listing different event information than in years past so as of last Friday I have emailed, texted, phone called and Facebook the parties in charge and have not had a response, so I will give them till Friday to let us know if we are still a part of the event or not. Thanks for your support Lynn Acklin Southern All Stars GM

Word on the street is Southern All Stars have already been contacted by two tracks that would be interested in hosting the series dates if the East Alabama races are cancelled, heard that from one of the drivers that races with them quite a bit during the year, guess we will wait and see now

I declared to a friend while sitting there one Sunday in 2000 or 2001 that if I ever come back here I'll give you $1,000.

I don't owe him any money.

It appears this special weekend is going downhill quickly! We were looking forward to it. If SAS schedules against it, it will hurt everyone even worse. Lucas is here the following weekend. The Mrs. may get happier and we'll send the weekend at home! (If she lets me back in after the World!!) The last National was one of the best ever! Wonder how they will screw it up?

I know we all have Knox. Nationals on the brain now, but does anyone know about grandstand prices, etc? The website says $95 for a top row reserved seat for the weekend. A friend of mine said he was told it was $100 unreserved for the weekend. What gives? Trying to figure out the next few weekends. I see they added a Friday super race. Which is good. I don't think we'v

So apparently it's $125 for a reserved seat for the weekend! They do have actual seats. Or $35 a day for General admission! Not sure about this one!

That is really Bad if PC didn't even have the courtesy or decency to even call SAS to say they were not being used bc SAS is a first class racing organization! Already have heard they may not even be a lot of Late Models for this race.

I understand that lots of people are not fond of EAMS and its been that way for some time. This may be a little off topic for the thread title but at 20k$ (was 30k$ at one point) why has Moyer not tried his hand at the National in some time?

I guess he can smell a rat a little better than the rest of us.

I don't know how many guys will not run because of it not being sanctioned by SAS, but I am sure that it will be a difference than in past years, with the payoff for sure not as good, organization will be lacking and plus having to pay for parking, and stay all day & night many of the SAS drivers I have talked and the ones that go because it was sanctioned say they are not going to miss it all

Anyone know who was there last night? We're still deciding about this weekend. Pretty sure we aren't going tonight.

Jason Heitt, Casey Roberts, Jake Knowels, Terrance Nowell were probably the fastest last night. looked like 18 to 20 cars last night for practice.

It's sad to here about the situation at EAMS.

I owned a Jig-A-Lo car back in the early 80's... I had been a fan in the stands several times during the 70's in my early trucking days down there. After I bought that race car I mentioned it to one of the folks working there one night and the whole Thomas family welcomed me with open arms.

This was just before Sr. passed away... I got to meet him and talk racing, chassis set-ups and such.

It's a shame things have gone to the crapper...

Since these races were not sanctioned by Southern All Stars, I was wondering how the payoff was in the back of the field and what kind of entry fee was charged. My guess is the payoff not as good as SAS and entry fee higher than SAS.
