Dennis Erb, Jr. Lands on Podium in $40k Topless 100; Lawrenceburg Next for #28 Team!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Next up on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule for Dennis Erb Racing was a trip to Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas from August 18-20 for the 25th Annual 'Topless 100.' The popular roof-less event drew 41 competitors to the Batesville-area to vie for the whopping $40,000 winner's check. Dennis Erb, Jr. stopped the clock eleventh fastest in Group A during Friday's time trial session prior to grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot through his stacked heat race. After Saturday night's action was rained-out, Dennis rolled off from the inside of the seventh row in the 100-lap crown jewel event on Sunday afternoon.

Tire conservation was the name of the game during the daytime affair and Dennis pitted to get fresh rubber shortly after the halfway mark in the 'Topless 100.' In the second half of the caution-plagued race, the Carpentersville, Illinois ace charged towards the front and eventually landed in the third spot and on the podium behind only victor Scott Bloomquist and runner-up Gregg Satterlee. He still finds himself eighth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings following the impressive run in the Razorback State. Complete results from the 'Topless 100' weekend can be obtained by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

“It was a great run for us and we had a good car all day,” quoted Erb following his sterling effort in the ‘Topless 100.’ “Our gameplan was to get tires pretty early if the opportunity presented itself with a caution. We got them shortly after the halfway mark and we were able to make our tires last to the end of the race. It ended up being a pretty good show with drivers coming and going with the all of the different tire strategies.”

The #28 team will now turn their focus to the next Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on the calendar, which will take place this Saturday evening, August 26 at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The annual running of the ‘Whiskey City 60’ will take place in two day’s time and a $12,000 top prize will be on the line. A full show of qualifying, heat races, consolation events, and a 60-lap headliner will thrill fans in the Hoosier State on Saturday. Dennis emerged from last year’s attrition-filled ‘Whiskey City 60’ in the fifth finishing position.
