Ricky Weiss Enjoys Three-Win Weekend; John Seitz Memorial Next

Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (09/05/17) – Ricky Weiss enjoyed a stellar weekend behind the wheel of his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7w Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Racing Engine as he picked up three wins in four events.

On Thursday evening Ricky Weiss kicked off the action-packed Labor Day weekend at Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba) with the Race of Champions Qualifier. Improving two spots in his heat, Weiss posted an 8-lap heat race win, positioning him on the pole for the A-Main. Leading wire-to-wire, Ricky coasted to his 10th win of the season in the 25-lapper topping Don Shaw, Mike Balcaen, Dustin Strand, and Kevin Sexton at the finish line.

The following night with 16 Super Late Models on hand at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota), Weiss secured his spot into the WISSOTA sanctioned feature with a 4th-place finish in his heat. Coming from the 7th-starting position in the feature, Ricky made a last-lap pass registering his 11th win of the season over Travis Robertson, Mike Balcaen, Brad Seng, and Joey Pederson.

Saturday night brought Weiss to Viking Speedway (Alexandria, Minnesota) for the Northern Late Model Racing Association (NLRA) sanctioned Labor Day Doubleheader. Starting the night with a heat race victory, Ricky earned the pole position for the A-Main. Jumping into the lead on the opening lap, Weiss outran the 26-car field to capture his twelfth win of the season and a $1,600 payday. Don Shaw, Shane Edginton, Dustin Bluhm, and Mike Prochnow rounded out the Top 5.

Wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, Ricky passed two cars in his heat to pick up the win. Rolling off 2nd for the $1,600-to-win finale, Weiss held his spot for the entire distance to place 2nd behind Don Shaw with Brad Seng, Shane Edginton, and Pat Doar completing the Top 5 finishers.

“It was a really busy weekend for our team, but it couldn’t have gone much better,” Weiss noted. “We’ve now got ourselves in the thick of this NLRA point’s battle, so hopefully we can seal the deal at River Cities (Speedway) this weekend.”

Ricky leads the NLRA point standings by 84 markers as he pursues his second series title. For more results from these events, please visit www.RedRiverCoopSpeedway.ca and www.NLRA.org .
