BURNSIDE, KY – September 4, 2017 – The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series would make its first-ever visit to Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY on Labor Day on Monday and Shon Flanary of Surgoinsville, TN would make his first visit to this track since 2007 and would sweep the night’s action as he would set quick time, win his heat, and lead all twenty laps of the $1,000 to win feature contest.

Flanary’s victory would come behind the wheel of his NAPA of West Liberty/FAST Trucking/Custom Suspensions/Casva Angus Farms/Auto Body Specialist/Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research sponsored #98 MB Customs, Mullins Race Engines powered entry.

The initial start would see the yellow flag wave when Hunter Feltner would spin his machine entering turn one and the second attempted start would also see the caution flag fly prior to a lap being scored when Nic Claborn would spin in turn four. When action finally got underway, Shon Flanary would jump to the race lead, with Jimmy Payne, Clayton Miller, Adam Stricker, and Blake Brown giving chase. Brown would take the fourth position away from Stricker on lap four as race leader Flanary would pull away from Payne a bit and start working slower traffic on lap seven. Brown would work past Miller for the third spot on lap nine and one circuit later, Brown would take the second position from Payne on lap ten. Flanary would maintain a comfortable advantage at this point, but would encounter heavy lapped traffic starting on lap fifteen and Brown would close the gap somewhat, but Flanary would work lapped traffic beautifully and would drive to the checkered flag first. Brown would settle for runner-up honors, while Payne would come home with a third place finish. Miller would take fourth position, while Jeff Watson would make a turn four, last-lap pass of Stricker to secure the fifth spot. Stricker would head up the second five finishers at the finish, followed by Mike Marlar, Billy Cooper, Matthew Hopper, and Keith Denny.

The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series next event will be Saturday September 9 at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN paying $1,200 to win the event that was postponed due to inclement weather on August 12.
