Carnesville, GA – All eyes in the Pro Late Model racing scene have turned to Virginia Motor Speedway for the 2017 FASTRAK World Championship which pays $20,000 to win on September 16th. The $5,000 to win FASTRAK members only World Championship is on September 15th.
The weekend kicks off with Friday’s FASTRAK World Challenge, a members only $5,000 to win, 40 lap race. Members are required to have competed in at least ten FASTRAK sanctioned events in the 2017 season. The race pays $300 to start and will pay $50 to any driver who does not qualify for the feature. Gates will open at 8am, with sign-in beginning at 2pm. The drivers meeting will be at 5pm with cars taking the track for hot laps at 6pm. There are at least fifty drivers who are eligible to compete in the World Challenge.
The following night is the FASTRAK World Championship, a $20,000 to win 60 lap feature event. The race pays $575 to start and $150 to any driver that does not qualify for the feature. The World Championship is open to all Pro Late Model teams. Gates open at 8am, with sign-in beginning at 2pm. The drivers meeting will be at 5pm with hot laps beginning at 6pm.
All series seals are legal for the World Championship; however competitors with the NeSmith engine package, with aftermarket parts, must add 50 pounds. Teams must have FASTRAK tires on all four corners throughout the event. The FT 200 cannot be grooved and siped. Grooving and siping is allowed on the FT 400.
Drivers have until 5pm on Friday, September 8th, to preregister for the World Challenge and World Championship. Doing so can save drivers competing both nights up to $90 for the weekend. Those competing only on Saturday can still save $65. Preregister by calling the Dave Seay at Virginia Motor Speedway at 804-758-1867 ext 102.
Any teams who arrive on Friday that are only competing in the World Championship will be given practice time that night. FASTRAK officials plan to work in practice sessions throughout the evening. In the event of rain, Sunday September 17th is currently scheduled as the rain date.
