Gregg Satterlee Scores Career-Best World 100 Finish; Knoxville on Deck

Indiana, Pennsylvania (09/13/17) – Gregg Satterlee enjoyed a career-outing over the weekend in his Satterlee Petroleum Distributors #22 Valvoline/ Rocket Chassis XR1/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.

He recorded a runner-up finish in the coveted finale for the 47th annual World 100.

“It was an amazing feeling to finish second in the World 100, but in some senses it was almost a little painful too, to come that close to winning the biggest Dirt Late Model race on the planet,” Satterlee said. “Every time we hit the track during the weekend, it seemed like we got better and better. Late in the feature on Saturday night I threw everything I had at Jonathan (Davenport) but he was just a little better than the rest of us.”

On Thursday night Gregg Satterlee traveled to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio), kicking off the 47th annual World 100. With 105 Super Late Models on hand for the three-day UMP DIRTcar sanctioned weekend, Satterlee dropped three positions in his heat race, registering an 8th-place finish. Needing a 2nd-place finish or better in his B-Main to make the opening night preliminary feature, Gregg edged his way into the finale with the second-and-final transfer spot. Rolling off 24th, Satterlee advanced nine spots in the 25-lapper, logging a 15th-place outing.

The following night with another round of preliminary features schedule, Satterlee followed up the 14th-fastest time overall in qualifying with a 2nd-place finish in his heat behind Shane Clanton. Starting in the 7th position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Gregg passed four cars to finish 3rd behind Don O’Neal and Tim McCreadie with Mike Marlar and Shane Clanton rounding out the Top 5.

Wrapping up the World 100 weekend on Saturday, Gregg secured his spot into the $50,000-to-win finale with a 15-lap heat race win. Earning the 2nd-starting position, Satterlee raced in the Top 5 throughout the 100-lap finale before flashing across the finish line in the runner-up position behind Jonathan Davenport with Mike Marlar, Dale McDowell, and Darrell Lanigan completing the Top-5 finishers.
