Dennis Erb, Jr. Looks for Better Fortunes this Weekend at Brownstown & LaSalle

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team was back on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series scene from September 14-16 at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, as the 14th edition of the 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals' took center stage in the Dirt Late Model world. Things got underway in the Hawkeye State with a pair of $7,000 to win preliminary programs and 56 entrants made their way to the 1/2-mile speedplant to compete in the three-day crown jewel spectacular. Dennis Erb, Jr. unfortunately could not find his way into either of the 25-lap prelims after finishing sixth in his heat race and tenth in the B-Main on Thursday night and suffering a flat tire in his heat race, winning the C-Main, and running eighth in the B-Main on Friday evening.

When Saturday rolled around at the Marion County Fairgrounds facility, Dennis wound up seventeenth in the loaded B-Main, but received a series provisional to gain access into the 100-lap grand finale. The Carpentersville, Illinois star was then making his way forward through the talented field from his thirty-first starting position before motor issues caused him to retire from the $40,000 to win affair in the twenty-ninth spot. Dennis still sits eighth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings exiting the 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.'

Earlier in the busy week, the #28 team was in the pit area at the Dirt Oval at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois on Wednesday, September 13 for a UMP Super Late Model special, which boasted a $5,000 payday. Dennis timed in second fastest during the qualifying session and later scored the victory in heat race action. After leading the field for the first seven circuits, Dennis unfortunately cut a tire down, which sent him hard into the outside retaining wall and relegated him to a disappointing twenty-first place showing in the 30-lapper. Complete results from both Joliet and Knoxville can be accessed online at www.dirtoval66.com and www.lucasdirt.com.

Next up for the Dennis Erb Racing team will be a visit to the legendary Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana for the 38th Annual ‘Jackson 100’ on September 22-23. A $7,000 winner’s check will be on the line for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series stars on Friday night at the 1/4-mile fairgrounds bullring, while another full racing program will thrill fans in the Hoosier State on Saturday evening. The winner of the 100-lap ‘Jackson 100’ will receive the $15,000 top prize. The #28 team will then bolt back north to hit LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois on Sunday for an unsanctioned program, which is scheduled to pay $4,000 to win. More information on each of these three races can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com and www.lasallespeedway.com.
