Cory Hedgec ock is Crowned the King

Loudon, Tennessee (10/02/17) – It’s good to be king. After this weekend’s racing action, such is the case for Tennessee’s Cory Hedgec ock.

Hedgec ock overcame numerous adversities to pilot his Cushman #23 Valley Transport/ Rocket Chassis XR1 Crate Late Model to the $5,000 triumph in the King of the Crates 60 at North Alabama Speedway.

“On Friday afternoon if you had told me that we would win this race, I would’ve probably told you that you were crazy,” Hedgec ock laughs. “We were broke down for several hours with hauler issues, and at one point I didn’t think that we would even make it to the track. However, a lot of help from other teams and various folks got us back on the road and we made it just in time. From there we had an awesome racecar all weekend.”

Friday night brought Cory Hedgec ock to North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) for the two-day NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series sanctioned program. The team arrived to the track at the very last minute after hauler issues plagued them throughout the afternoon as they traveled to the red-clay oval.

Drawing 28 Crate Late Models for the inaugural King of the Crate 60, Cory locked his spot into the A-Main on Saturday evening with a heat race victory. Rolling off second for the finale, Hedgec ock overtook pole-starter Jeremy Shaw for the lead on a restart in the opening laps. Slicing through lap-traffic late in the race, Cory held off a hard-charging Jake Knowles in the final circuits to capture his 25th win of the season and a $5,000 payday. Knowles, Ronnie Johnson, Grant Garrison, and Greg Wilhite rounded out the Top 5 finishers in to the 60-lap affair.

Cory continues to lead the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series point standings. For full results from this event as well as the latest standings, please visit www.NeSmithRacing.com .

Up next for the team is a double shot of NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series action at Oglethorpe Speedway Park (Oglethorpe, Georgia). On Friday night a $2,000 winner’s check will be on the line, while Saturday will see a $3,000 top prize up for grabs.
