Ricky Weiss Sweeps Prairie Classic Weekend
Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (10/03/17) – Ricky Weiss made a clean sweep of the Prairie Classic at Red River Co-op Speedway in his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7w Bloomquist Race Car/ Vic Hill Racing Engine Late Model.
The Headingly, Manitoba racer pushed his 2017-win tally to 14 by emerging victorious in both nights of Late Model competition.
On Friday Ricky Weiss headed to Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba) to compete in the opening round of the two-day Prairie Classic. With 22 Super Late Models on hand for the unsanctioned weekend, Weiss started the night with a heat race victory from the 5th-starting position. Rolling off from the pole for the opening night feature, Ricky outran the 21-car field to capture his 13th win of the season. Dustin Strand, Jim Harris, Bill Mooney, and Brad Seng completed the Top-5 finishers in the 20-lap affair.
Returning on Saturday evening, Weiss started his night by posting another heat race victory, which positioned him on the pole for the A-Main. Holding off the hard-charging Dustin Strand in the closing laps, Ricky earned his 14th win of the 2017 season. Strand, Brad Seng, Shane Edginton, and Kevin Sexton completed the Top-5 finishers.
“Our team is really rolling right now,” Weiss noted. “That was a tough field at Red River, so to get both wins is pretty awesome. We’ll try to grab two more this weekend at Viking Speedway.”

This weekend – October 6-7 – will take Ricky to Alexandria, Minnesota, where he’ll compete in the annual Viking Fall Classic. A $3,000 top prize will be on the line for the Wissota Late Models each night.
