Jake Knowles Runner-Up in King of the Crates; Hornet’s Nest Next

Rome, Georgia (10/06/17) – Jake Knowles surged late but came up just short in his bid for a triumph in last weekend’s King of the Crates 60 at North Alabama Speedway in his Knowles Race Parts & Bodies #66 Brucebilt Performance Rocket Chassis Late Model.

“I wanted that win bad, but Cory (Hedgec ock) ran a smart race, so congrats to him for the win,” Knowles said. “After all the bad luck we had last week, it just felt good to have an issue-free weekend.”

Jake Knowles traveled to North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) on Friday night to take part in preliminary action for the two-day NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series sanctioned weekend.

Drawing 28 entries for the King of the Crates 60, Knowles followed up the fastest in his group with a heat race victory at the 3/8-mile oval.

Earning the 4th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday evening, Jake worked his way into a podium spot during the race’s early stages as he set his eyes on race-leader Cory Hedgec ock. Challenging Hedgec ock in the closing laps, Jake came up short in the 60-lapper to finish in the runner-up spot at the checkered flag behind Hedgec ock with Ronnie Johnson, Grant Garrison, and Greg Wilhite rounding out the Top 5.

Jake is currently ninth in the NeSmith point standings. For full results from this event, please visit www.NeSmithRacing.com .

The team has decided to remain idle this weekend before traveling to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama) next weekend – October 13-14 – to do battle with the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series in a pair of events. On Friday evening a $2,000-to-win show will be contested, while Saturday’s program will be headlined by a $2,500-to-win finale.
