Kyle Beard Grabs All Star Modified Cash at Greenville

Trumann, Arkansas (10/09/17) – The 2017 season has not been very kind to Kyle Beard, but over the weekend he enjoyed nice redemption during the 11th annual Gumbo Nationals.

Not only did he pass 13 cars to finish in the Top-5 in the MSCCS Super Late Model feature, but he also piloted his Shawn Mann Motorsports #86 Gary Beard Trucking/ GRT/ Kuntz & Co. Racing Engine Modified to the $1,500 win in the All Star Modified Series feature.

“It just seems like this has been one of those years where anything that can go wrong has,” Beard said. “A few weeks ago we didn’t even know if we wanted to keep racing, but my family and my team are just too stubborn to give up that easy. The weekend in the Late Model started slowly, but ended really well. Then in the Modified we had an awesome car all weekend and were able to get the win.”

The team traveled to Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) on Friday to pull double duty with both the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) Super Late Models and the All Star Modified Series during the 11th annual Gumbo Nationals.

MSCCS Super Late Model action found 35 entries on hand to contend for the $10,000 top prize. While heat race action on Friday night left Beard just short of transferring to the feature, a B-Main win on Saturday evening transferred him to the feature in the 17th-starting spot.

During the course of the 75 lapper, he advanced 13 spots to finish fourth in his Gary Beard Trucking #86 Black Diamond Super Late Model behind Brian Rickman, Tyler Erb, and Dane Dacus.

Preliminary action in his #86 Modified transferred Kyle to the 20-lap feature. Starting seventh on the grid for the caution-filled finale, Beard kept his nose clean and progressively worked his way to the lead. Once out front he cruised to the $1,500 triumph. The victory was his fourth of the season.

The upcoming weekend will see Kyle returning to action with the All Star Modified Series as he makes the extremely short trip to Old Rte. 1 Speedway (Harrisburg, Arkansas) on Saturday night to chase the $1,500 top prize in the Rollin The Dice 30.
